“me and susie had so much fun”

There’s nothing like skipping the gym, ordering takeout, and sitting on your tushie in front of the couch to proactively confront negative body image issues! (Sushi is healthy though, right?) I’ve had an overload of envisioning myself standing up in front of 50+ people all staring at me, so I am taking a short hiatus from thinking about dresses, trains, bustles, strapless bras, crinoline, satin, chiffon, cleavage, girdles, spanx, et cetera. Serenity. Now.

I will say that I re-tried on the V-neck dress last night and decided I still really do like it. And since I can get it half price by ordering it online (hell yeah!), it’s totally possible that this will be The Dress.

You may be wondering where the title of this post came from. I asked my dad which song we should choose for our father-daughter dance and he suggested Elton John’s Crocodile Rock. This totally made me laugh out loud at first. But then I thought that it just might be fun. So if anyone knows some good dance moves for it, let me know.

As for non-wedding stuff, I have to admit I am a big sack of boringness. I am hoping that a fabulous spring weekend full of babysitting for my landlords and um, cleaning the house will bring back the wild and crazy life you really love to hear about.

  1. I love Crocodile Rock. That could be tres cute! And sushi is TOTALLY a health food. Low in calories, and it’s yummy too!

  2. I think you should create a routine! This is what I was talking about.

  3. I highly recommend rehearsing your dance with Dad once before you go out a do it. My dad suprised me by wanting to to actually “dance” rather then just shuffle around in a circle (like Colin and I had just done) and I felt totally unprepared. Instead of enjoying our moment together my dad spend the whole time trying to coach me to dance (think: slow slow quick quick). Whoops!

  4. Does your fiance read your blog? Cuz if not, on with the DRESS PICTURES, girl!

  5. Kelly – you always make me feel better :)

Lex – how about you be my dance instructor? Just remember we might have had a few margaritas by the time the dance comes around, so nothing too complicated!

Ali – luckily, I’m sure no one noticed, because you looked beautiful dancing with him. But advice noted :)

Anna – he does read it, so you will just have to use your imagination. If I end up actually buying, I might post the designer name and model # and you can google :)

  6. My college friends would advise you against using me as your dance consultant. They called my one of 4(?) dance moves, ” The crank.” And no, I will not do a demostration.

  8. Any Elton John song is okay in my book! You could do a rowdy rendition of Tiny Dancer. :) Or is it just me that loves that song?

Sushi is so healthy that if you eat it while standing up it’s like working out!

  9. I say if you have an unconventional choice for the father-daughter, go for it. Just practice (informally) first. We danced to “Make Someone Happy” – it wasn’t sad, or too slow, or very long, and it was meaningful to us. Please no “Butterfly Kisses” or “Thank Heaven for Little Girls”…it’s too sad.
