love and hate weekend edition

love: my mom, who came to visit this weekend. She had a business trip in Baltimore, so she flew out early to hang with me. We always have a fun time together just walking, talking, eating, and lounging. And neither of us had ever been to B-more before today!

hate: that I haven’t lost 20 pounds already in the 48 hours I’ve been on the Shangri La Diet. Wasn’t the weight supposed to just melt off? Just kidding — I know nothing will happen this quickly. I just hope that I will have results by Day 14. So far, drinking oil is really not bad. It’s more of a mental grossness than a real physical one. Really.

love: that I am going to Mexico with my mom in one short month! Let’s hope my passport gets delivered to me this week.

hate: that I don’t have a rooftop deck and/or a pool. Cause that would be nice, don’t you think?

love: Pilates classes at my gym. I just discovered them but I already eagerly anticipate my Monday and Thursday evenings, which are now filled with balance, serenity, and buff abs. (Bonus: they are FREE!)

hate: Grey’s Anatomy (who’s with me on this one?), that I can’t afford both an iBook and Lasik surgery (or frankly, either one), and tomorrow’s weather forecast of “Cold and Wet.”

love: the final episodes of West Wing, bronzer, arugula, soft serve ice cream, and all the flowers blooming in my neighborhood.

  1. love: yummy black bean cakes that were a success this weekend.

hate: that we might have to break up because I LOVE Grey’s Anatomy with my SOUL.

love: that you are crazy like me and are willing to try drinink oil for a “diet.” we are odd.

hate: 2 days of rain and cold weather in MAY

    love: wearing a turtleneck..in MAY!

  2. Hate: Grey’s Anatomy… You knew I’d be with you! It is just that Big Love or that Tori Spelling Show are much more entertaining and on at the same time.

Love: Your mom! She’s so cute.

Hate: Rainy Mondays and the Doorman at work. I do not want to be his friend, especially when I am grouchy due to the rain…

Love: Being able to wear dress boots just one more time.

  3. I can’t believe you’ve never been to Baltimore before! It’s really not that bad here! and everything is cheap!

I did a juice fast once, I know exactly what you mean by the mental grossness being worse than the taste… by the end I was plugging my nose and chugging the carrot juice back like it was vodka. The Shangri-la diet sounds interesting though. I am a sucker for these type of things.

Don’t mourn the lack of a rooftop deck too much. They’re kind of overrated. We never use ours. It’s really hot (no shade) and really windy up there!

    Love: the spring weather
Hate: that all my outside plants are dying. WHY??

  4. Love: Grey’s Anatomy!! I’m sorry, but I’m a sucker for medical dramas, especially when it’s more about romance than anything medical :)

Hate: The housing prices in my hometown.

Love: That I get to stop working in less than a month!

Hate: That I won’t still be getting a paycheck in less than a month!

  5. Hate: Forgetting an umbrella when it’s raining out.

Hate: Spilling Starbucks on myself when my hands are full.

Hate: Automatically flushing toilets that flush too early (= all of them).

Hate: Frizzy hair caused by the above-mentioned rain.

Hate: Not dressing warmly enough even though you clearly heard on the weather report that it’s supposed be in the goddamn 50′s today. Idiot.

Can you tell I’m having a bad day?

At least this past weekend was lovely!

  6. Love: Doritos. Just ate way too many of them.

Hate: Cheap bosses. Do I look like a bargain to you? I thought not.

    Love: Grey’s Anatomy. Sorry. I just LOVE.IT.A.LOT.

Hate: Dorito breath. Damn. That’s rank. Gotta go brush teeth now. :)

  7. Love: The sunny weather here in Amsterdam.

Hate: My neighbors for drilling this morning at 7:30 am. It’s my day off!

Love: My very own Pilates class! I start teaching tomorrow.

Love: Wireless internet and my sunny roof top terrace.

  8. Love: Bozeman, Montana – its gorgeous there, and amazingly they have really good boutique shopping

Hate: The idea that my brother will soon be in harm’s way in the Army. He’s a tough guy, but he’s still my little brother!

think is kinda weird: your diet. Janet, it’s kinda strange no?

  10. Love – I’ve got a job near to my lovely fiance Kevin and start in less than 4 weeks!

Hate – that it means I have to leave my beloved Edinburgh and friends and family.

Love – it’s only 123 days till my wedding!

Hate – it’s 123 days till my wedding! Help!

Love – your blog! You keep me laughing! And you don’t need to lost 20 pounds surely???

Hate – living on my own now – used to love it, but miss my Kev too much now! But I’ll soon be with him forever…!!!

Too much soppiness? I think so!!!

    Love:
    Spring weather!

    Hate:
    Spring allergies.

    Love:
    Spanx!

    Hate:
    That I need Spanx.

  12. I know I’m a little late, but:

Love: Claudia Jean when she’s sassy.
    Hate: West Wing’s exit.
Love: Exciting things happening on season finales (can’t wait for the next DH and Lost)
    Hate: Reruns all sumnmer.
Love: My new apartment! Yes! I got in.
Hate: The thought of cleaning out the fridge in my old apartment.
    Love: Mexican food
Hate: The fact that I’m trying a no-dairy diet due to allergies which means no cheese or sour cream for me.

  13. I love Spanx too. But only on this site and in the safety of all of you girls will I admit that I recently needed to buy some.

  14. I love my baby, my husband and my cat.

And I hate it when the SUN isn’t out.

(Dude, why do I live in Seattle? Oh…because the summer’s rock. So…let’s be summer time ALREADY!)

(Hooray for your upcoming trip to Mexico!)
