morning glory
October 31st, 2006 @ 12:02 pm | dc | Post a CommentI was going to write a whole long post about how much I hate that first week after Daylight Savings Time ends. How depressed I feel when there’s no evening light left when I leave the office, and there won’t be for many more months. How dispriting the thought of winter is. How I’m forced to go to the crappy gym instead of taking evening sunset runs. How my dinner turns into eating Kraft macaroni and cheese straight from the pot instead of sipping wine with girlfriends at a sidewalk cafe.
(Who am I kidding anyway? The last time I sipped wine with my girlfriends at an outdoor cafe was months ago! Mental note: need to start doing that more often, now that wedding diet is pretty much over.)
This morning, instead of bitching and moaning, I got up to work out. Whereas my morning workout last week was like a dark and cold punishment, today it was a bright and shining morning experience. The trees in Rock Creek Park are ablaze with their orange and red leaves. The sunrise reflected the same fiery hues. It was so damn gorgeous out.
I’m going to try my hardest to get up every morning until I leave for Mexico. Then I will replace fleece jackets and falling leaves with crashing ocean waves and chips and salsa for breakfast. With a margarita on the side, of course.

A good way to flip the perspective!!

Way to go with your optimism! That’s a good outlook. But I still think it’s another conspiracy by The Morning People. But it makes the summer all the more enjoyable, knowing that sunsets at 9pm can’t last forever.

Morning workouts are the best… if it’s light out. I don’t understand those who can motivate themselves to go out in the cold and dark–brr!

I wish I was better at getting up early.
My husband is up at 6.
I’m such a wuss about running outside when it gets cold. I’ll be hitting the treadmill while watching the Simpsons.

We’ve lost an hour with daylight savings – because we’re going into summer, the mornings are cooler and the evenings last forever.
And I cannot get my body into the swing of things, and have felt like a zombie since Sunday night.
Roar!

You are a better person than I am for finding the good in all of this.
And I appreciate it.

I think chips, salsa, and margaritas will definitely make every morning a little brighter (or even a WHOLE LOT brighter).
Sign me up too!
I like going to work when it’s light outside rather than dark, but I’m going to miss walking at the park because it’s dark on the way home. Ack!

I guess one of the “pluses” of working the late shift is that I don’t even notice when it gets darker earlier than usual. But I know what you mean, though.
Yum…wine at outdoor cafes! Guess you’ll have to move indoors for that though, at least until spring rolls around again.
