I saw the first "engaged and underage"...it's a train wreck. What are your thoughts???

(Hooray for the new diet. Sorry you're hungry. But yeah, I guess that means it's working.)

Feeling hungry is not fun...no, not at all. That's why experts say diets fail, you know. Feeling deprived. Not good! If you eat tons of vegetables (even on the South Beach, can't you steam veggies if you want to?), you'll get full without all the calories.

Try snacking on nuts (peanuts, almonds and pistachi's in phase one) through out the day, they really help me. And too, I snack on fat free/low fat lunch meat (look for the 'turkey roll up' recipe in the phase one recipe section). And low fat laughing cow cheese, that is great with celery sticks! After about day three (for me) I lost all my cravings for anything bad, and pretty much had no appetite at all....strange. I guess it affects everyone differently.

I know it's tough to be on a diet, but hang in there! It does get easier.

JP - I have tried yogurt with minimal success, but hey, ANY dairy success is something to be happy about in my book :)

Cheese is like my ultimate nemesis. I haven't tried hard cheese, per say - care to give some suggestions?

I don't eat meat, either, so I missed out on all the no-carb fun because I probably would have starved. But imagine the weight I would have lost! I love to eat too much to starve. Hope you find success with SB!

Elise, have you tried hard cheese and yogurt? The way they're processed breaks down the lactose and makes it easier for your body to digest.

I have a friend who is a vegetarian, but she hates vegetables. I think that's kind of like being on South Beach and not liking meat.

But I totally hear you, I did Atkins once for three days to support my friend, and I never felt sicker. There is a limit to how many cheese and turkey roll-ups you can make yourself eat before you start to feel sick. And the limit is not very high.

You shouldn't be hungry on SBD. You may be craving food you shouldn't have, but you can eat as many veggies as you want...so there's no reason to go hungry. Beans helped fill me up, lentil soup, veggie chili, garbanzo or kidney beans on my salad, etc...
Hope that helps!

Hiya there,
Just wanted to give you some blogger moral support, because I'm on a diet too! Actually, I think of it more as a lifestyle eating habit change instead of a diet. I'm not on anything with a name to it. Instead, I have decided to cut out: sugar, processed foods, hydrogenated foods, starches, soda, etc. and replace it with: vegetables (fresh), fruit (fresh), fish, and the like. Oh, I've also given up my gum chewing habit since artificial sweeteners are so bad for you. Anyways, I feel your hunger pains. And cravings. It's been about a week for me, so I'm hoping the cravings will go away pretty soon. Hope it goes well! Keep up the good work!

I totally have to agree with Lindsey. Someone lied to you, woman! I did the SBD, and was STARVED, like the kind of watching-commercials-with-food-made-me-insane starved, for the first two weeks. Then it got better. Plus, I sort of modified it after the first week because hello, I am lactose intolerant, and imagine your current diet with NO DAIRY. Of any kind.

No.
