I’m on a budget too – gah! How much does that suck?!

love: college basketball – especially when our local team wins the conference!

hate: too much celebrating . . . the next morning.

love: cats snuggled up on my lap

hate: cats snuggled up on my lap with half of their bodies draped over my laptop, and when I try to gently nudge them off, they freak out, jump up, and run away, causing little kitty hairs to settle in my nose and on my keyboard. ew.

love: art classes
hate: expensive ones

Um, so, I know of a few places that have art classes in the DC area–google them:

Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA–Just 5 short miles from DC! I’ve taken a good ptg. class here because their reputation is as one of the best art centers in the country.

Arlington Art Center has a wide variety of art classes–i’ve gone to art receptions there and nice facility right by metro stop (near george mason i think).

Corcoran College of Art & Design in DC. but i bet this is expensive for just a fun class. i’ve just heard good things.

my friend is taking a sewing class somewhere in NW…loves it. i’ll ask her and get back to you.

love: that I am in Hawaii-in 85 degree weather- and just got back from scuba diving the tropical coral reefs

hate-that I have to go back to the cold on Monday..grrr

love-spending money on vacation like I am a retired stcok broker who retired at 32 years old after making millions of dollars

hate-the credit card bill I am going to see after I get back home.

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop has cool art classes, as does the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria. One of my colleages takes artistic welding at the torp. How cool is that!

Also, check out Project RAP at the smithsonian. they do photography classes and some other kinds of visual art. not exactly cheap, though.
