I honestly don’t know what wrong karmic deed I did last week to warrant such an awful weekend, but it must have been really bad. On Friday around 2pm I noticed a little tickle in my throat, by 6pm the fever had set in, and by 10pm I was dead asleep in a cold sweat thanks to some lovely cold ‘n flu caplets.

When I woke up around 1am and realized that Andrew was still out with the boys (which, looking back on, was totally reasonable and part of the evening’s plan to see Transformers, drink beer, and in general be crude and testosteron-y), I deliriously started sobbing and perhaps wailed for my Mommy.

I was sick. But the crazy? I blame the Nyquil. I am not usually that emotional on my own. Seriously!

Saturday wasn’t much better, although I did eat a guilt-free McFlurry “to make my throat feel better.” Sunday I felt semi-human again and my big event of the day was picking a friend up at the airport and shopping at the wonderful mecca called Wegman’s.

The worst part is that I have something like 180+ sick hours saved up at work and I can’t legitimately use a single one of them to take a day off. This flu had Weekend written all over it – who gets suddenly sick on Friday afternoon and is cured by Sunday night?

This week I am working on improving my karma. Anyone need any favors?

    Glad you’re feeling a little better though… what a crappy thing to happen on a weekend in July!

  5. Oh, that’s awful. There’s no fun in beating a cold if you have to go straight back to work the next day after missing out on your whole weekend.

    I’m jealous of the trip to Wegmans, though!

    Speaking of favors, do you know anyone in my area who needs a competent new employee? :)
