things I am doing instead of blogging
July 16th, 2007 @ 11:28 pm | miscellany | Post a CommentThinking about how I’ve been neglecting my blog and my blogroll and feeling slightly guilty about it, but not that guilty.
Debating the merits of an employed husband (omg money! in the checking account!) vs. an unemployed husband (never stuck at work at 11pm).
Watching Big Love on my friend’s giant screen TV. Anyone else agree this season is much better than last?
Obsessing over real estate on ZipRealty. They really should not give me so much access to so much information.
Running along to the Couch to 5K podcasts that Whoorl introduced me to, while lip reading MSNBC.
Eating one scoop of ice cream for every mile run.
Reading autobiographies of presidential candidates.
Which reminds me, I decided what my New Year’s Resolution 2008 is going to be. I’m going to try to read one biography every month. Somebody please remind me of this when December rolls around, okay?
Counting down the days until I get to meet Lily. (Twenty nine, in case you were wondering.)
Sweating, a lot, every time I go outside and sometimes just thinking about going outside.
Regretting writing this sorry excuse for a post.

Bah, tis not a sorry post at all. I think it’s quite witty, actually.
I’ve been doing C25k for months, but I’ve stopped at the 20 minute section – that’s as far as I can go without literally falling over and dying. Maybe one day I’ll get to half an hour… ha. One day.
What is a mile in km though? I’ve always wondered that. YUM icecream. I wish it was hot enough to eat that here.

I think a biography/month goal sounds great. Are you taking recommendations?

RA – yes! Got any good ones?
Aly – 5km is 3.1 miles, so a mile is longer than a km but not twice as long (of course I could look it up, but then I would be REALLY late to work!)

WHAT? This may be the first time I’ve ever disagreed with you, Janet. I think this season of Big Love is super boring. And yet, I keep watching…

I agree that Big Love is better this season. Less nekked Bill. I admit I didn’t like seeing his tushy.
What is this podcast you speak of??? I need more info.
I used to love reading biographies about any of The Beatles.
Enjoy the heat. And send it our way when you’re done. It’s ass cold here.

i like this season of big love, and i have to agree with isabel that less of the naked bill is much, much better.

1 mile = 1.6 kilometers….
I blame the many years of physics and chemistry for burning that into my brain….

Er. When I said, “Are you taking recommendations?” wasn’t it clear that I meant, “I can’t wait to see what people recommend because I could use more books for my insanely ambitious new year’s resolution”?
But… I do know of a few non-fiction numbers that I would recommend, even if they’re not really biographies. Hey, the resolution isn’t in place yet, right? And, uh, the last two are rather nerdy, so proceed with caution. And I have all of these, if you’d rather borrow.
- Two-Part Invention, by Madeleine L’Engle
- A Walk in the Woods, by Bill Bryson
- What the Dog Did, by Emily Yoffe
- Word Freak, by Stefan Fatsis
- Uncle Tungsten, by Oliver Sacks

Are you coming to Colorado to meet Lily? Because if you are, you should definitely come meet Ben, too. (Assuming the purpose of your trip is to meet the “kids” of bloggers.) He lives in the very same town as Lily, so it would be super convenient!
I’ve really got to get my hands on this Big Love show that everyone’s talking about. I’m dying to see it.

I’m new to your blog. Who’s Lily?

At least it sounds like you have plenty of stuff to keep yourself occupied in lieu of blog-writing. That’s always a good thing.

I feeling uber-guilty about not getting to everyone’s blog as often as I’d like. Why does the blog guilt follow me everywhere go?

I had just about given up on Big Love until last night, when I happened upon the newest episode. (“New love interest? Is he CRAZY? Must watch! Can’t pull eyes away!”) Now I am ready to dive back in. Thank you Comcast On-Demand!
