house beautiful

The rumors (that I spread about myself) are true! We are in escrow for an adorable little house, which we will own in eighteen days. A few details on the house and the many things swirling around in my head:

  • It’s a rowhouse in Capitol Hill built in 1909. Andrew and I already decided to throw a big party in 2009 to celebrate the house’s 100th birthday. And you’re all invited. As long as you can fit in my backyard.
  • Imagine my delight when I found this blog last night!
  • I’ve already picked out paint chips and a color palette for furniture and accessories. I’m going for Fresh-Light-Modern-Simple meets Century-old-Hardwood-Brick-Traditional meets Girl on a Serious Budget. I’m inspired by this living room.
  • Does anyone know how to build a mantel? A nice, big shelf mid-way up the brick fireplace would be perfect, really.
  • The current owner has invited us over for dinner on Thursday to meet the neighbors. How adorable is that? I am secretly going to bring a tape measure so I can keep planning my décor scheme.
  • If you are the owner of a truck and you live in DC, I would like you to be my new best friend. Seriously. I make really good oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! I’m very loyal and a great listener, too. Call me. We’ll talk while we move all my crap run errands in your truck.

That’s all I can think of for now, but don’t fret because I’m sure in the coming weeks I will not be able to Shut. Up. about this little house.

Confidential to the flip flop brigade: I loved meeting you this weekend! Let’s do it again soon…IN MY NEW BACKYARD!!!!!
