love & hate, it’s been awhile since we did this edition

love: we met our new neighbors last night, and they are a lively and liberal bunch. I think we will like our new ‘hood a lot.

hate: I signed up to run a 5K a few weeks ago (back when I was loyal to the running podcasts) but then I kinda sorta went on a bunch of vacations and bought a house and stopped running and CRAP! the race is tomorrow morning. And did I mention I am too freaking tired to be waking up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to run?

love: I like to name houses I live in, usually based on the street name. However, our new street name is just a letter of the alphabet, which is boring. I found out last night that we have an old silver maple tree in the backyard so I am going to call this house the Silver Maple House. What do you think?

hate: car still smashed (but I don’t want to talk about it anymore)

love: my sister bought me my color palette bowls (except in the bigger size) as a housewarming gift and they already arrived! I love them. In fact, I am in love with Martha’s entire new line at Macy’s.

hate: my jaw is aching from all the stress this week. I think I’ve been grinding my teeth at night. Ouchie.

love: Did I mention I work across the street from a Macy’s? I think that Martha + Macy’s + Silver Maple House + Tight Budget = DANGER LURKING AHEAD.

hate: that I gotta run. Leave yours in the comments!

  1. Love: the house name! It’s very Anne of Green Gables to me.
Hate: JG won’t let me name the house because I want to call it “The Hacienda”. We are at a stalemate.

Love: the annual Mushroom Festival is going on this weekend!
Hate: JG is away for the Penn State/Notre Dame game and I’ll be going solo

Love: I don’t have to sit through 10 hours (seriously, people?!) of tailgating before said game
Hate: I’m missing a chance to see Mimi

Love: that I get Ted to myself this weekend
Hate: that JG will miss the inevitably cute moments

Love: the U of D football season opener is tomorrow!
Hate: again, no JG to come with

  2. Martha’s moving up in the world-from K-Mart to Macy’s. Those bowls are pretty! Good luck on your race tomorrow-you can do it!

  3. We name our houses by numbers. 102, 2010, 206… Silver Maple House is much more interesting!

    Love: it’s Friday.
Hate: This has been one long ass week, and it was only 4 days!

Hate: All the time it takes to TAKE a shower (shaving, hair fixing, blah blah)

Love: Your house name! So cute!

Love: I am now going to name my house! I did this when I was a kid and somehow forgot about it. Thanks :)

  7. Love: That you are totally going to rock your 5K tomorrow. 5K in 2007, Marine Corps Marathon in 2009!

Hate: That my running-evangelism probably verges on irritating. But, I just. can’t. stop.

how weird is this – my parents named me Laural and later found out that the name of our house model was “the Laurel”.

HATE that I can’t afford to buy anything right now
    LOVE your house name
HATE that my street name sounds pornographic, so naming our house would be out of the question :)

  14. Love: That I took the day off today.

Hate: That I had to clean for house(apt?) guests this weekend.

Love: That my birthday is in 2 days.

Found your blog thru a network of others. Nice to ‘meet’ you!

  17. [...] I’ve mentioned once or twice or twenty times how obsessed I am with the colors of Martha Stewart’s new line at Macy’s. Perhaps I’ve even been to Macy’s three times just to see it all with my very own eyes. The Washington Post read my mind and did a whole feature on the collection today, and, in a moment of true bliss, I found out that the color Martha used on her famous window displays at the Macy’s in NYC is from her line of interior paints at Lowe’s and it’s called Vintage Map. And I can buy it and put it in my own house and then I will become just! like! Martha! (Except without the felony record and all that.) [...]
