love & hate, all moved in edition!

love: my new house

hate: no internet until Friday. How did I live before the internet existed? I truly wonder sometimes. We’re at a local coffee shop stealing an hour of WiFi right now.

love: I took today off of work to finish up some house stuff

hate: I would pay $1 million to be able to take off the whole week

love: with the help of my mother in law, sister in law, and DC-BFF, my new kitchen is completely unpacked, organized, clean, and ready for you all to come over and drink wine from my three dozen wine glasses. (Okay, maybe we over-registered for drinkware, but they are all so sparkly and pretty!)

hate: you can’t come over for dinner quite yet because we don’t have any chairs. Or a coffee table. Or hand soap. But we’re working on it!

love: did I mention I LOVE MY NEW HOUSE. And Andrew loves his new ginormous television. All are happy.

hate: except the cats. Cats are not happy about the move at all. (But they don’t pay the mortgage, do they?)

love: all the help we had with moving this weekend. It was freaking amazing and made things go so smoothly.

hate: I’ve been so busy and exhausted from all the moving that I’ve taken no pictures for y’all! I’m sorry, I’ll try to remedy that soon. Don’t worry, I haven’t started painting yet or anything.

Quick questions for you: It’s TV premier week — what new shows should I be recording (in HD, suckas!) on my TiVo? And leave your loves and hates in the comments. And (lastly), like I said, I don’t have internet at home all week so I might be a little MIA this week…Good thing I’ll be too busy making out with my house to notice.

  1. Woo! Yay for new houses and moving help! Although I suppose your secret-operations van helped in the process, too.

Love: actually having this whole week off!
Hate: JG has a super busy week so we can’t exactly enjoy it together

    Love: fall weather
Hate: the large range of temperatures in a given day

    Love: fall clothing! Mm, corduroy.
Hate: uh, I have no money and my wardrobe is sadly lacking.

Love: I hate to admit this, but I finally checked out the new Martha line at Macy’s and, despite my better judgment, her stackable cake plates are so going on my Christmas list. For cakes! And cupcake towers!
Hate: the Things I Want and the Things I Can Afford lists are never in sync.

Love: fall premiers! What we’re DVR-ing:
    - How I Met Your Mother: tonight, 8pm, CBS – be there!
    - CSI
    - The Office
    - My Name is Earl
    - The Simpsons (hello, not my choice)
    - House
    - I am also slightly intrigued by “The Big Bang Theory” because of the nerds. Plus, it has a good slot between HIMYM and 2.5 Men. Thoughts?

  2. Don’t worry, I will sit on the floor if there is wine to be had!!

  3. I am so excited for you. I love the organization orgy that is moving. And getting everything just right with help from caring in-laws/family.

My fall tivo plan involved an excel spreadsheet. With mulitple worksheets. But the new things I’m trying this season: Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice (I know how you feel about GA so I’m not sure about this one for you), Samantha Who?, Chuck, and Carpoolers. I would really like to try Cane but it conflicts with Boston Legal, and 10pm is about 3 hours past my bedtime (just kidding) (sometimes) and Tivo can only do one show at once and so help me god I’m not going back to the VCR. So maybe I’ll catch that one on DVD if it makes it. Otherwise, Desperate Housewives/Brothers & Sisters/How I Met Your Mother/Grey’s Anatomy/The Office/Men in Trees (I have pared down the reality shows to 0% because, KEEPING UP WEEK TO WEEK! STRESSSSS!).

  4. You are all moved in!!!! That is so exciting!

    I only have loves today.
Love: I bought new work clothes this weekend!
Love: I had coupons for $100 off, so I bought $207 worth of clothes and only paid $107!
Love: Jim and Pam are back on Thursday!

Here is what I am watching:
    How I Met Your Mother (CBS- 8 – Monday);
    House (Fox- 9- Tuesday);
    30 Rock (NBC- ?- Thursday?);
The Office (NBC- 9 Eastern?- Thursday).

  5. Where did my comment go?

  6. Love: Fall Premiere Week!
Hate: MNF that seems to pre-empt Monday Night tv…

LOVE: I now have an HDTV in my kitchen, and I need to get my season passes set up on it!
Hate: DirecTV’s DVR… TiVO is sooo much better…

LOVE: ER in HD. and Grey’s Anatomy.. yes, I am still sucked into those shows.. but HD makes things so beautiful!

LOVE: How I Met Your Mother – 30 Rock – The Office

  7. Love: That there is actually something to watch on tv now!
Hate: Joel informed me that we have a date with the Tv from 8-11pm tonight. TV overload!!
    Love: Tivo.
    Hate: Mondays. Period.
Love: Business trip this week means only 3 days in the office!

Congrats on being all moved in! YIPPEE!

  8. Okay Here goes-

Love: That you moved smoothly. I was thinking of how it went this morning on my way to work.

Hate: That you haven’t taken pictures yet! :)

Love: That The Office is Back on Thursday! Tivo THAT!

Hate: That it’s Monday, and I have to be at work everyday this week.

    BOO!

  9. Love: That my few TV shows I actually really like are coming back this week (The Office, My Name is Earl)

Hate: That my baby is alreayd interested in TV!

But! We got a DVR when she was born, becuase people, we don’t have time for commercials! So we’ll just have to watch our hour of TV in 30 minutes or so after she goes to bed.

  10. Oh, there are so many shows I’m recording this week… tonight Heroes and How I Met Your Mother, and I’m watching Dancing with the Stars and the Bachelor (I know, I know, feel free to mock at will–I wanted to watch Chuck too, but I can’t squeeze it all in), Tuesday is Reaper and House, then there’s Gossip Girl and America’s Next Top Model on Wednesday (continue with the mocking) and I’ve chosen to watch Bionic Woman over Private Practice.

Thursday is surrounded by a heavenly glow as both The Office and Grey’s Anatomy return, and I fell in love with Ugly Betty over the summer, so that’s going on the list too. I’m wrapping up my Fall Previewpalooza on Friday with Ghost Whisperer and Moonlight. And then I will need to nap all day on Saturday to recover!

  11. Erika… so glad to know that I am not the only person who uses Excel to plan their TV schedule….
Though I find it less stressfull since I have 3 Tivo’s (One Series 3 (dual tuners) and 2 Series 2…). I am the ultimate TV Dork…
Though my TV is not quite so big as Andrews….

  12. First of all, a huge CONGRATULATIONS! to you and Andrew on moving into your new house!!! I’m so glad it went so smoothly for you – and your kitchen is already set up! Whenever we would move, I’d get the kitchen and bathroom done first. Cuz those are the two most important rooms, hehe.

Secondly, here are my Loves and Hates:

Love: That Hub-E surprised me on Friday by inviting my two sisters, my brother in law, and my two nephews over for dinner.

Hate: That the kitchen “exploded” and still isn’t finished being cleaned up from Friday’s dinner.

Love: That we get to go camping in the Sierra’s on Thursday! Woohoo!

Hate: That I started my period on Sunday and we might end up cancelling the camping trip, depending on how things are on Friday.

Love: The Horatio Hornblower series that I watched this weekend.

Hate: That my cramps are so horrific that I can barely function. I just popped a Midol and have been sitting in agony with a heating/vibrating pad on me.

Love: That I will only have to work 3 days this week (if we go on the trip).

That it. I’d like to keep it on a “love”. :)

Congratulations, again! I can’t wait to see pictures.

  13. Oh the cats! That’s right (they don’t adjust that quickly)

  14. Do not let the cats stake out territory or never leave the second floor ala my parents cats.

Glad you are in safe and sound!

  15. I’m sure the cats did hate it! Mine hid under the couch for a few days when I last moved. Can’t wait to see pics of the new house, congratulations! :)

love of the moment: pumpkin cream cookies my bf picked up for me

hate of the moment: that i freeze in my office and have to run the space heater no matter what season it is

  16. I agree with Laurel. Besides, we’ll all end up on the floor after a few bottles of wine, anyway, so why not just take out the middle man, so to speak, and bypass the chairs entirely.

Congrats on being all moved in! What a GREAT feeling that must be!

  17. i’m so excited you’re all moved in!! it’s such an awesome feeling, isn’t it? until you see all the organizing that has to be done, that is. :)

  18. Congrats on moving! Glad you’re getting settled through the chaos…

  19. yay for being all moved in :) And really, who needs chairs and a table? Overrated, I say!

  20. I’m so excited that you’re loving your new house! Too bad you can’t get more time off though; I know you’re dying to spend more time in your new place. :)

  21. Love: I took my first spinning class tonight, which is the first time in about a year and a half that I’ve worked out!

Hate: I only made it through 15 minutes.

Love: But I’m going again tomorrow!

Hate: But I’m going again tomorrow.

Grey’s! The Office! Haunting Evidence! Hey, you asked. ;)

  22. The house news is so exciting! I can’t wait to see pictures.. kitties will grow to love it.

  23. Love: I’m glad you are moved in and nothing broke or went missing!

    Hate: No photos! :(

Love: My 4 DVR’s including one HD DVR. I cannot imagine trying to keep up with shows otherwise.

Hate: That we only have one HD TV. Haha!

    Yahoo 2007 Fall TV Schedule.

  24. Congrats on the move finally being over. At least the hardest part is done right? (We’ll keep on telling ourselves that)…

    loves: Being home
    hate: Doing dishes at home

    I’m recording:

    Heroes
    Bionic Woman
    Greys Anatomy
    Chuck
Gossip Girl (going to check it out at least)

  25. HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TONIGHT!! 2 hours to go…I can barely contain myself!!!

If Office starts this week, then definitely that…and Desperate Housewives on Sunday.

    Glad your new house rocks!

  26. What’s worth DVRing in in HD and taking up all that precious space:

    Heroes
    Bionic Woman
    Greys Anatomy
    Lost (in February 2008!)

Everything else for the TV that doesn’t suffer if it’s just in regular format TV:

    The Office
    Journeyman (I actually liked it!)
    30 Rock
    Ugly Betty
Private Practice (not sure about this one…)

  27. Wow… I have to say – I’m damn impressed with the following here (as represented by the comment string).

Anyhoo, I hope you and the beau are doing well. I am glad to stay somewhat abreast and send well wishes from Chicago.

Have you ever heard of… well, it’s called The Weblog. There is something there. Something that I appreciate and that you might, too. I especially recommend his Tuesday and Friday serials.

  28. 2 things – I don’t know how I existed before the internet either!

#2 – You must repost this TV premier – what should I be watching answer. I am looking for new shows as well but I can’t handle the mass of 27 (crazy) comments. I need cliff notes! mk thanks I just gave you a post topic.
