ode to vin
August 13th, 2008 @ 10:47 pm | blonde moments, girl time | Post a CommentI know it’s only Wednesday, but I already have the weekend on my mind. One of my best girlfriends is coming to town tomorrow and we’re having an Official Girls Weekend. If history is any indicator, it’s going to be really fun. Tonight, in preparation, I bought some wine.

Oh, come on, you didn’t think three bottles would be enough, did you? How about five?

Yes, yes. That seems more reasonable. Except that we ladies are not about reason. We are about staying up all night talking and laughing! Which is why I bought seven bottles.

And yes, they are almost all Chardonnay, with some Vinho Verde in there too. What can I say? Girls know what girls like.
Wine (and booze) has led to fun times in the past. Like my bachelorette party.

Or that one time, in Akron, when we stayed up ’til sunrise talking about godknowswhat, laughing and definitely waking up the neighbors.

That was also the year we started our annual sewing projects. We made sleeping masks. And, oh golly, did we need those masks for our hangovers the next morningafternoon.

The next year, wine fueled us into an apron-making frenzy.

And then, there was this one time, in a remote cabin in the Pennsylvania woods…

I honestly don’t even know how to describe that last photo collage. Except to say: WINE.
It promises to be a great weekend, and I should also come clean and say that, honestly…

…I bought eight bottles. Wish us luck!

Have so much fun! And tell AIP I said hello. Cheers to good friends

Oh man, I love it that you kept teasing about how many bottles you actually bought. Have a great time.
Also, I can’t believe it’s not Friday yet.

Oh man, staying up all night NOT for a baby seems like the distant past and I’m sad about it. Someday I hope to have a night like this with us again, someday far far away.

Yay! Have fun!
…But chardonnay? Seriously? Ugh!!!! But I suppose it doesn’t matter what you’re drinking after the first few glasses. At least that’s the way it is with me!
(There were soooo many bad chardonnays a few years ago. I know they’ve improved, but I still can’t stand the stuff!!!!)

Have a great time with your girl friend.
Any advice?
On another note, I read in the past about how you like Vinho Verde and that it was a cheap wine… and I have to admit that since then I’ve had my eye out for it at almost every liquor store I’ve been in and haven’t been able to find it. I guess I could “man up” and ask the employees but I haven’t yet.

You girls sure do love your chardonnay! How do you stand the hangovers though? Wine-induced hangovers are the worst!

Dang. After the title tease, I was kinda hopin’ that this would be some posting about your hot-n-heavy romance with Vin Diesel, but alcohol is good, too…

Looks like a good time to me! I had totally forgotten that you know Liz K. Our 10 yr high school reunion is this November and when she registered on the website I was like “OMG, someone I went to high school with also lives in Falls Church?! That’s crazy!” Ha ha… Have fun this weekend!

A woman after my own heart! When I first saw the three bottles I thought “Is that all?” Then I saw five and thought “hopefully the other girls are bringing some, too!” Seven, and then eight bottles, on the other hand — that seems much more appropriate an amount!
