thursday: taking the easy way out

I tagged myself. Ain’t no shame in that. Found this one over at Heidikins‘ blog. I love that girl.

What is your current obsession? Trying to wash my hair every other day without looking homeless. (Hey, should I do a post on that?) I’m also still stuck on those damn Bertolli meal-in-a-bags. I could say birds, but every night at 1:30 am these damn birds have been chirping outside my window, and it’s really starting to piss me the hell off.

Okay, here is something I am really obsessed with: the Sneak Peeks over at design*sponge. SWOON.

Do you nap a lot? All weekend long, as often as possible. 99% of the time with my husband, which means it’s quality time, not wasted at all. If I could find a way to nap at work, trust me, I would.

Who was the last person you hugged? I’m not sure why this question annoys me. I do like to hug that guy I live with…

What was the last thing you bought? A soft white cardigan for this fickle spring weather. On sale at Filene’s, of course.

What are you listening to right now? the hum of the furnace. See fickle spring weather above.

What is your favorite weather? 77 degrees, blue skies, hint of a breeze, ABSOLUTELY NO MOISTURE IN THE AIR. Not that I’m sensitive to frizz or anything…

What’s on your bedside table? A cup of water, always a plastic cup. Water just tastes better from plastic cups. A small IKEA lamp with a 15 watt bulb. I love reading late into the night in the near dark. We call that lamp “Two Watt.” This week’s New Yorker, and about eight others, all in various stages of read-ness. The alarm clock is on the husband’s side, because I cannot be trusted with it. My name is Janet and I abuse the snooze button.

Say something to the person/s who tagged you. Gosh do I just love myself…kidding. Heidi. Sometimes I think we are long lost sisters and I always appreciate your cheery messages to me. When are we going to finally meet?!?!

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? How about a big old house in a great old neighborhood in Denver? Life without a mortgage would be liberating.

Favorite vacation spot? Hard to top the wedding/honeymoon in Cabo. I’ve had some of the most fun in odd places though, like a girls’ weekend in Akron. Two trips I’d like to take are Vieques, Puerto Rico and a road trip up the coast of California.

Name the things you can’t live without. My iPhone (named “God”), my husband, my childhood blankie, pedicures, my family, flip-flops, jeans, Google Reader, and carbs.

What would you like to have in your hands right now? A tiny kitten?

What would you like to get rid of? Clutter in my house. It’s not horrible, but it’s not nearly a little as I’d like.

If you could be anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? Sound asleep next to my husband, somewhere in a giant comfy bed, where time stops and one hour turns into twelve. Can you tell I am really damn tired right now that I can’t think of anything better?

Wait, I have a better answer. I’d spend an hour with my BFF and her awesome daughter and family. I hate that I see them so infrequently! There are A LOT of people in my life who I don’t see enough. It’s hard to live so far away from people I love.

What did you want to become as a child? Probably a teacher like my mom, or a lawyer like my dad. I became neither.

What do you like better, e-mail or telephone calls? Addicted to both. I call my mom every day and chat on the phone as much as I have time for with friends. But gmail is my homie.

What do you do when you get time alone? Watch really bad TV, like Millionaire Matchmaker, which….hey…isn’t that on RIGHT NOW? Oh yes…just turned it on. Life is good, and who needs sleep anyway?

  1. Holy crap that’s a beautiful photo!

  2. Awwww, bloggy love!

And yes, we do need to meet, and pronto! Too bad I’m not in DC right now for the gorgeous blosoms!

    xox

  3. That picture is soo beautiful – one year K and I went down to D.C. for the day to the Cherry Blossom Festival – it was the peak weekend. We arrived in the masses of people, finally found a place to park and started walking towards the trees and then a freaking Helicopter (think Air Force 1) flew low over the Tidal Basin and blew like 70% of the blossoms off the trees LOL!

  6. I only drink water from plastic too (unless it is at a restaurant). Tastes so different!

  7. Love that photo!

  8. love this!

*i’ll be there to see the Blossoms this weekend! check back later and i’ll post pics :)

  9. Um,I LOVE Millioniare Matchmaker.

  10. You call your mom every day? Dude, BEST DAUGHTER EVER!

  11. From one blondie to another, re: the every-other-day hair washing – baby powder! Sprinkle some in your palm (I use the Johnson & Johnson lavender scented, since I don’t like how straight up baby powder smells), flip your hair upside down, and run your fingers through the roots, getting the powder all up in there. Flip hair back up and VOILA! No oil and it looks like it’s freshly washed – and it’s waaaaaay cheaper than dry shampoo (and more effective, I’ve found). I have hair that tends toward the oily side by the end of the day, and this is a lifesaver on those mornings I don’t feel like washing it!

  12. seriously you are too darn cute, i love it. and those bertolli meals are phenomenal, i love them.

and um i love pretty much everything in this little survey because i totally agree and would love it all too.

  13. We’re going to Los Cabos for our honeymoon. Any recommendations of places to go and things to do?

  14. Sweet picture, Jaynet!

  15. Any tips for frizz?? I can’t wash my hair at night or it will still seem oily/flat in the morning but now that it’s getting warmer out, the frizz is taking over!!!
