time for a pop quiz

Over the past 10 days I have:

  1. Quit my job.
  2. Accepted a new job.
  3. Attended meetings with senior White House staff (albeit as a lowly nameless peon).
  4. Shattered the glass on my iPhone.
  5. Paid $100 to get my car back after it got towed from what I thought was a legal spot.
  6. ALL OF THE ABOVE

All you have to do is follow my twitter feed (@loveisblonde) to know the answer is #6 ALL OF THE ABOVE. I haven’t had much time to brief you lovely readers on all the craziness that is going on so let me just summarize by footnoting that:

  1. My last day is Friday; this is a good thing (but I will miss my work friends).
  2. New job: Wow - it’s going to be awesome. I am going to try to kick some butt and take some names and help pass health care reform, a new energy bill, and other progressive policies for America. I am super excited about the opportunity to do good work that will improve people’s lives.
  3. I’m fairly convinced White House staffers never sleep. I hope that I will not have to work that hard, because honestly, {quiet voice} I kind of like my free time.
  4. Did you know a totally shattered iPhone still works? It’s kind of neat, although probably a slight hazard due to shards of glass. I will be replacing it with a new-used one as soon as I can get myself to an AT&T store.
  5. Regarding my car, the city of Falls Church, Virginia is ON NOTICE because I simply should not have to spend my weeknights in a sketchy tow lot in the suburbs. It’s also possible I have a “haunted car” because some crazy shizz has happened to that car since we bought it two years ago.
  6. Life is a bit crazy right now. I hope to be back soon to tell mundane tales such as, How to Clean and Restain Your Wood Deck, with photos!

  1. That is crazy! Congrats on the new job! How exciting! I hope you don’t have to work ridiculous hours… I have a friend who’s positioned very high up at DHS and she works ALL. THE. TIME. I just can’t imagine. At my job, as soon as the clock hits 4 pm I’m all, “Peace out, bitches!” But then again, I’m not changing lives with my job either…That may require a few extra hours here are there (and everywhere).

Also - on behalf of the city of Falls Church, sorry about the tow. :-( Our little town isn’t all bad, I swear!

  2. oh my goodness, how exciting!!! So where will you be working? THE OVAL OFFICE?? (I kid. ha) I hope it’s not too demanding on your time, we miss you here on The Internetz :)

I bet you had fun putting in your notice at work… :)

  3. Given what your new job is, I think I want to hear stories from the war room. That is, if you have an ounce of extra time to give to your blog. Good luck in the coming weeks - sounds like lots of good things are in store for you!

  4. Wow, very exciting! Are you going to be working in the White House?

  5. No, no, definitely not working at the White House (that would be awesome and mind-bogglingly stressful!) - didn’t mean to overstate my new job. If this helps to clarify my place in the DC landscape: I begin on Monday and do not yet have any office space.

  6. wow! you are one busy lady!

  7. Yay for a new job! And I hope you get a bit of free time as well… it’s all about balance.

  8. Oh no, iPhone! Oh no, car! We are okay with you having such a cool and exciting life as long as you still promise to visit us this summer!

  9. oh wow busy lady. but yay for a new job, can’t wait to hear all about it! and boo on creepy towed cars, never fun.

  10. holy business lady! Glad to hear things are going well for you!!!

  11. sans the car thing and the iphone thing that is. The car thing is crazy! (and VA is permanently on notice with me. H8 virginia.)

  12. Where’d you get towed? Circumstances? We’re anticipating changing our towing ordinance in the fall (to hopefully drastically reduce predatory tows) and we’ll probably be enlisting folks to come testify about their experiences.

  13. My brother’s been using a shattered iphone for months with no trouble though my dad is convinced the ER will be picking glass out of his backside at some point. If its not broke… He also found a wiki online about how to fix it yourself after ordering the glass, who knew? But he’s a poor college student and not a high rolling DC power broker like my friend Jaynet!

  14. Congratulations on the job!

My husband broke his first IPhone only a week after getting it. He dropped it in a toilet. It tried to work after that, but no such luck.

  15. Holy canoli! Busy girl, eh? Good luck with the job transition and here’s hoping you don’t slice your finger on your phone ;)

  16. And I had a nerve to complain about my week. You are a busy bee.

  17. It’s totally lame that your car got towed, but when ours got towed (for being in a no parking between 4-6pm zone at 4:01pm, no exaggeration) it was $300 to get it out of the tow lot… so basically YOU JUST SAVED $200. nice work! Buy a pair of shoes to celebrate your new job!

  18. Wow! Exciting! (Job, White House, Policy Reform) And a bit sucky…(iPhone, Car, etc.)

However, overall, this sound like up-and-up!

    xox

  19. I read this before I left, but didn’t have time to comment, so I am way late on this, but YAY for the new job! I sincerely hope you get to sleep, because isn’t sleep deprivation a form a torture? That would not be cool in my book.

  20. I don’t know if you have them out there but there are normally cell phone repair shops that can fix that for you.

    Congrats!
