purple majesty
November 3rd, 2009 @ 8:22 pm | pretty things | Post a CommentOur credit card statement came today. It was ungodly high, prompting me to immediately IM my husband to say that we MUST stop spending so much dang money!! And of course he agreed so let’s just all be thankful that I bought this lovely winter coat before we decided to go on a spending diet:

Don’t worry, it was on sale.
Here I am in the coat, and yes, I am wearing it with my yoga pants.

There are two kinds of people in this world: people who wear yoga pants all the time, and people who do yoga all the time. Please take a wild guess as to which kind I am.
So I’ve got a lovely, purple-y, fuschia-y, quite vivid coat for winter. Please, please help me find the perfect accessories for it! I need a scarf, hat, and mittens. Any suggestions on color or style? Items that fit into the new spending diet are especially welcome!

P.S. I bought the coat at Macy’s but of course I can’t find it online there. I did find it at Lord&Taylor online here: http://tinyurl.com/purplemajesty (and you can get 15% off with coupon code NOW). It looks reddish in the photos but it really is a purple/pink coat!

Ooh, pretty coat! I think it would look awesome with some gray accessories, like a knit scarf – loving gray right now. My fave combos are gray & yellow or gray & purple!
(I love my yoga pants, too. I haven’t done yoga since March).

That coat is GORGEOUS, I’m having complete coat envy right now.
As for accessories, I think pale pink could work…

i almost bought the purple NW one at Macy*s the other day too!
i definitely think ivory/camel items will go best with this. black and grey will look good but will just blend in, when you want that *POP* i’d go with ivory : )
i highly recommend Marshalls/TJ Maxx for that kinda stuff

It’s beautiful!
I like the idea of ivory or a lighter gray/charcoal. I agree, TJMaxx/Marshalls… or etsy!

PRETTY! I vote for gray or white accessories. Do you still knit? Because that would definitely be a cost-cutter.
I am asking for a coat for Christmas from my in-laws this year, so I have 5 candidates waiting in the wings. I just have to hold out hope that they will still be around whenever purchases occur…

I think ivory/white accessories would be very glam. Lots of people said gray and that would be pretty too. Maybe both, so you can switch it up!

I love that coat! Definitely worth it! I think grey or white accessories would look really pretty.
Also, I’m definitely the wear yoga pants all the time type. I think I’ve done yoga once.

I can’t help you with accessories. We don’t hardly even get to wear winter clothes in TexASS. I will say the color of your new coat is very rich and lovely.

Love the coat! Wish I could borrow it for my family photo re-do session this weekend! I say go for YELLOW. When you’re going for loud, go loud (or something.)

Hi Janet,
I really think the jacket you picked out is quite cute and practical. Don’t worry…I was practically shooting myself for getting 2 Tory Burch dresses on sale (love the brand) only to find out they weren’t like they appeared on the website (not as cute) and in not the right sizes. And that they weren’t returnable for refund. It was the worst purchase regret I’ve ever felt. Goodness, I understand about wanting to save more money and just keeping it on essentials. High stakes shopping on the internet. Alas.
I love how comfy yoga pants are too and admit to wearing them WAY more than actually doing yoga, which is so popular out here in Cali.

I said it on Twitter and I’ll say it again – that coat is fabu. And you look so skinny in it!
I don’t have patience or attention span for yoga. But I sure do find the pants comfy!

i love this coat!! It’s beautiful. I’m trying to find one in kelly green myself but this might make me reconsider…
As for accessories – purple & silver/gray are really popular right now, but purple and pale yellow always look nice, too.

I almost bought a fuschia-y coat from Macy’s, too. But then realized it was $200 over my budget and I was about to get married and go on a honeymoon and holy crap, stop spending money already, woman! So I love your coat!
I ended up with a nice purple and blackish/greyish herringbone print coat with a cool cowl-ish neck. Also looking for accessories and am thinking light grey. I think either light grey or ivory would be best for yours!

my two cents is to wear jewel toned accessories. Be bold. I can send you a rainbow hat that goes with everything if you want!

Gasp! Swoon!! Ohmygoodness, I love it!
I agree with the classy gray/cream scheme…but I am also envisioning something bright lemon yellow for fun. Inexplicably, the idea in my head has yellow pom-pom trim, which, of course, would be optional.
