love & hate friday, it’s back baby!

love: I woke up to a text this morning from my husband telling me he won $900 overnight in Vegas while I was sleeping. (!!!)
hate: New sofas cost more than $900. (But the love majorly overrides the hate in this case.)
love: My parents booked a trip out to DC in March so they can spend five days fixing up my house. They’re going to build a mantle, build bookshelves, put in a new front door, take out some ugly wood siding stuff, and more. My own free handymen!
hate: I haven’t exactly asked for the time off from my boss yet. Why do I dread this so much? Probably because he NEVER takes a day off, not even on the weekends. No joke.
love: I bought some ugly ceramic birds on eBay today. I have big plans for de-uglifying them, though!
hate: When I told my husband I bought ceramic birds on eBay he laughed at me for about 5 minutes with a perplexed look on his face.
love: Thanks to Janssen‘s endorsement, I have started using mint.com. I love it, and no, I am not losing sleep that my identity will be hacked.
hate: It’s a bit of a shock when you think of yourself as a frugal person, and then you are faced with an analysis of every last penny you spend. Wow.
love: The lovely Katharine bequeathed upon me a Beautiful Blogger Award. Awwww, thanks K!
hate: I am such a terrible blogger 99% of the time and am the most terrible at award-y type things. I think ALL of my readers are beautiful!
love: Speaking of beautiful bloggers, Jen is going to help me make a new header. What should replace the beloved cherries?
hate: I feel like I work too much and at the end of the day it’s hard to be on the computer for fun. I often neglect this little blog.
love: My daffodils are starting to peek through the soil.
hate: Surely it’s too early for flowers and they’ll just get frozen to death?
love: When you leave your loves and hates in the comments! Helps keep me going at the end of a long week. Happy Friday everyone!

Hate: This week at work was like stuttering – every 20 minutes a new fire reared its ugly head and had me spinning.
Love: I had NOTHING planned for my Thursday and Friday (I work part-time and I’m home with my baby girl at the end of the week) and we spent the day watching Sesame Street, having impromptu tea parties, taking a long, toy-filled bubble bath with the little girl, and knitting grannie squares at nap time.
Hate: That I first found your blog during a long blight of your posting.
Love: That you’re back to blogging so I can learn more about you.

Love: Dark chocolate sandwiched between slices of baguette
Hate: My lack of portion control

Hate: The fact that they live in another state and I haven’t got to meet her yet!
Love: The new clothes I got for my trip
Hate: How much they cost, the fact that they are dry-clean only, and the potential for them to get wrinkled in my suitcase

Very cool about your parents’ working vacation! Gotta love that. A guy-friend of mine moved into a house last July and his parents came for a visit in December to do exactly what you just described — help him fix things up!
You definitely need to make sure you’re taking some down time, no matter how hard your boss works…
Speaking of which, I’d really like to see you! Are you available to meet up after work sometime?

oh these are some of my favorite posts and i occasionally steal the idea
but yay for parents visits and vegas winnings, seriously can i please win $900 when i go in may because that would be amazing.
as for me, today looks like this.

hate: i have to get up at 7 on sunday, blerg.

We must have the same parents. Whenever mine visit they are always fixing/building something. I love it!!!
Also- mint is Awesome! The only prob is that it doesn’t show pending purchases which can be confusing at first. I just downloaded it to my iPhone as well…
You’re from Colorado right? Hubs and I are looking at moving there in the next couple years. Any recomendations? We were looking at Fort Collins, Denver & Colorado Springs… It has to be within an hour of the airport for me
