30 before 30
1. Visit three museums/monuments in Washington, DC that I’ve never visited before.
2. Buy a new lens for my DSLR camera, keep taking photos, and uploading them to flickr.
3. Lose 20 pounds.
4. Cook and freeze a giant batch of soup for healthy, warm winter meals.
5. Bake and decorate a cake from scratch.
6. Finish all incomplete house projects, and document the “after” photos on flickr.
7. Write my grandma two letters per month.
8. Nominate a nonprofit for a grant from the One Percent Foundation.
9. Floss my teeth every day for 30 days.
10. Buy one piece of original artwork.
11. Send something in the mail to someone, for no reason except to make that person happy.
12. Go on a trip out of the country. Somewhere. Anywhere.
13. Try two new classes at the gym.
14. Get a physical.
15. Spend an entire day with my BFF.
16. Have a picture taken of me that I really like.
17. Hang Christmas stockings from my mantle. Bonus points if I make them myself!
18. Make a conscious effort to reduce the amount of waste/trash I contribute to the world.
19. Visit Longwood Gardens.
20. Read every book assigned by my book club.
21. Roast a whole chicken.
22. Hand craft at least some of my holiday gifts.
23. Take a day trip somewhere new.
24. Attend or host a wine tasting and learn/identify three new kinds of wine.
25. Pay off $10,000 of our 2nd mortgage.
26. Go TV-free for one whole week.
27. Go to a concert, big or small.
28. Clean out my Gmail Inbox to zero.
29. Spend a weekend somewhere with just my girlfriends.
30. Create and order a photobook with at least some photos from my 20s.

Yay, lists! And psh, you don’t need to lose 20lbs, you are beautiful my dearest! xx Great list.. I would love to get my Gmail down to 0 but what with all the travel & wedding related emails right now, I think that’s off the cards until next June at least!

What are you going to get? What do you have already?
21. Roast a whole chicken.
Easy and yummy! Let me know if you need tips or a recipe. I love a good roasted chicken.

where did you get the widget that counts down to your 30th birthday? I want one! And the list is great. I’m glad that many of them seem completely realistic. I am not a fan of the lists that say things like “visit every continent”, “swim with the sharks off Mozambique”, “win the lottery”, etc. Obviously, I am exaggerating but it’s nice to see a list that is attainable!

#4: Do you need any recipes? We have had success freezing chili, jambalaya, and mushroom soup.
#19: Come to Longwood with ME (and Laurel)! And then we will go to the Half Moon and have delicious crab nachos and moontinis, yes?

Great list! I’m inspired to make one of my own! (Although it would have to be 31 things before I turn 31.) For the wineries trip, my two favorites are The Winery at La Grange and Aspen Dale Winery at the Barn – both are within an hour of DC and are old and romantic and have really great wine. You could combine that with the “going somewhere new” if you haven’t already been to either – and the girls weekend even! Look for a cute B&B out there!

Ugh, mine is one single thing. Run a half marathon. Already thinking this was a bad resolution…
You’ve never roasted a whole chicken? Seriously, buy a 4lb one and throw it in the crockpot with some seasonings and a couple cups of water and cook for 4 on high, 6-7 on low. Easy peasy!

Hey, great to see someone else with a 30 Before 30 list! Mine is here. I also like that your list has got a lot of practical stuff on it that would just make you more organized and contented–not all of this “I’m going to cartwheel across the Great Wall of China,” kind of stuff.
My hardest list entry so far has been “cook a real dinner every night for a month.” It’s been 18 months and I haven’t come CLOSE.

Love the list! Personally, I’m a big, big fan of photo books to commemorate years of my life. I’m trying to do one each year, with mixed success.

I think I could help you with many of these. Textile museum, anyone?
Lentil soup, my dear? Not to mention the weekend trip!
