About Me
Hello, I’m Janet. Lovely to meet you.
I’ve been writing here at Love is Blonde since 2005. I was 24 years old, new to DC, living with my boyfriend and cats, and soon to be planning a wedding. Now I’m 30, still in DC (but now in a real house!), happily married, and working in the non-profit world.
Some things haven’t changed. I still love margaritas, cute shoes, weekends with my girlfriends, pizza (even better if I’m eating it in Italy), wearing jeans to work, shopping on Etsy, pretty paper products, and ponytails. Now I also love twitter, yoga, iced coffee, and my iPhone.
My husband and I got married on the beaches of Mexico, outside of Cabo San Lucas. It was the best weekend of my life. Then we bought a house, both got new jobs, and went to Europe. In 2009 we decided to start trying for a baby, and in 2011 we finally got pregnant with a son. Unexpectedly, he died when I was still pregnant, at the beginning of the third trimester. His name is Miller, and you can read about him here.
If you found this site because you lost a baby, too, I am so sorry. This is the worst club to be in. I’m not an expert in babyloss or in grief, but I’ve found a lot of comfort in writing about my son and my grief, and I hope I can offer some sisterhood to other grieving mamas.
Where I am right now is a person trying to heal, trying to enjoy the richness of life and share happy (and sometimes sad) times with my family and friends. This blog has given me so many amazing friendships and I treasure my readers and blog friends so much.
