labor day weekend

I thought I was finished but when I got home and measured it came up about a 1/2 inch short. But I’ll knit a few more rows and then bind off and then do it all over again!
We spent half of Labor Day Weekend in Boston. Got there Saturday early afternoon, took the T to the hotel in Cambridge, ate, got pretty, and went to the wedding, which was actually held in Brookline, Mass. (For all you DC people who complain about the Metro, please visit Boston. The T seemed ancient in comparison. And I don’t even like the Metro!)
The wedding was held at the top of the Larz Anderson park overlooking the entire Boston skyline and the reception at the Auto Museum down the hill. The weather couldn’t have been better.
The ceremony was a blend of a traditional Hindu ceremony and a quasi-Christian one conducted by a Justice of the Peace, with an Irish blessing and an Apache prayer thrown in there too. The best part was the younger pundit (Hindu priest) giving us the play by play interpretation of what the older pundit was doing, including instructing the bride and groom to perform Dangerous Activities such as circling an open flame while draped in highly flammable gold fabric. At one point, the couple had to throw handfuls of rice to the fire to make the rice puff up. The pundit imformed us that this symbolized the bride becoming liked puffed rice, whatever that meant!
Andrew’s favorite part was the Indian buffett dinner, I’m sure. Oh, and seeing one of his best friends get married!
