ragweed and rats

I called in sick to work today and spent 98.4% of the day lying down. I feel rested, but I am still stuffed up and have a sore throat. Bah. Stupid winter. And Stupid Ragweed.

(I went to the allergist yesterday to describe my recent symptoms and he guessed that I might be allegic to Ragweed, which apparently likes to float around the air and make people miserable until about December. But I really couldn’t understand his pronunciation of Ragweed (RAH-WHEE with a nice guttural sound thrown in) until I asked him to repeat himself six times. Um, embarrassing?)

I am home alone for the night because Andrew drove up to Delaware to play in his dad’s poker game. Why is it that only when I am home alone for the night do I hear really creepy sounds, like the sound of a rat trying to claw through my air conditioning vent?! Ew and creepy! So far my defense has been to walk up to the vent and yell “Run Away!” as if this rat speaks English and cares what I think. I hope Howie can rescue me in case of emergency.

I promised a knitting update, so here is the beginning of my latest project, a scarf made with lots of different colors of pinks, reds, purples, and some green and white thrown in. I am knitting it on circular needles that are about 1/4 the length of the scarf, which is why it is all scrunched up. When and if I ever finish it, it won’t look so weird, I promise.

  1. You poor thing! Tell Andrew that you are more important than a poker game and he should have stayed home and made you chicken noodle soup whilst keeping the rats away. Hope you feel better!

  2. I hope you feel better.

Last night I finished crocheting a hat/scarf set for our friend in Germany (those Europeans love to wear scarves). It is good to have that project done so I can start on the next one (a set for her husband).

I can’t wait to see the pictures of the finished product.

  3. Feel better Chica!

  4. Hey what ever happend to the blue scarf you were making me last winer? Are you saving it for a Christmas Present? Maybe I’m askign too many questions?
