snooze, shop, sew

I have a confession: The only time I set foot outside of the house during the past 24 hours was to walk the 3.2 steps to the mailbox. Probably because I was asleep for about 15 of those hours. Glorious, glorious sleep!

I have Christmas shopping to do, but instead of bundling up (and, uhh, showering) and fighting crowds at the malls, I took advantage of my wireless internet connection. In the true Christmas spirit, I also had to buy myself something, so I purchased a book on destination weddings! Between the cold weather and episodes of Lost, a wedding in Hawaii sounds really great right about now.

Tonight, just to remind myself how uncool I have become since college, I busted out the sewing machine, paper, pencil and ruler, and designed and sewed this cute little blue suede purse. It’s not exactly perfect, but it’s still pretty cute. I wanted it to be more of a clutch than a pouch, but oh well. Better luck next time. At least I haven’t forgotten everything I learned in sewing class.

For a brief moment, I had visions of sewing myself a beautiful wedding dress, until I remembered that I could still barely make a purse. I think I should leave the dressmaking to the pros for now.

P.S. Yet another reason Andrew is the best: He still loves me even though I have asked him to turn the TV volume down 4,628 times today.
