sisterly love
December 15th, 2005 @ 10:58 pm | family | Post a CommentMy little sister likes to call or IM me frequently to ask if I have planned my wedding yet. As if I would have left her out or something. I think she just can’t fathom that I have been engaged for a month now and haven’t like, gotten off my tush and started GETTING MARRIED ALREADY. I think she wanted me to be married back when Andrew was wondering if he should be calling me his girlfriend yet.
I figure this is because my sister, love her dearly, is the Most Perfect Person in The World and expects me to be the same. After all, we have the same genes, right? Here is a list of her life’s accomplishments: (Just to put this in context, she is only 22. As in, born in 1983.)
1. Skipped third grade due to sheer brilliance. (In fact, the only thing I am better at than my sister is handwriting, which? Taught in the third grade!)
2. Excelled at varsity sports. While her older sister was hanging out on the JV bench.
3. Played Division I volleyball in college and won fourteen frillion awards.
4. Got married at the young age of 21 (barely, barely even 21). Planned her wedding herself in less than six months. The whole thing was executed without a single flaw.
5. Bought a condo. She and hubby even put in crown molding all by themselves. (I hate renting. HATE. Have major owner-jealousy in this ridiculously overpriced market.)
6. Aced her first year of dental school and is on her way to becoming a dentist. And probably fabulously wealthy. (Last week I asked her if she would pay for my kids’ college. She agreed. Phew.)
I’d like to think that she is so perfect because she had me as her role model her whole life. Right? Now if only I would start planning my wedding already…

Well, why haven’t you planned your wedding yet, slacker!
And, I will say that while your sister is exceptionally fabulous, you are equally as wonderful, if not more so.

Wow - that’s quite a lot accomplished by the age of 22! I think I was still getting drunk every weekend when I was 22. Don’t stress too much about getting wedding planning underway -you’ll be overwhelmed soon enough

This is what it must be like for my little sister, who lives in my shadon. As I am, alas, much more perfect then she is (and skinner and prettier)!
Hee-hee.
Sounds like you and your sister love each other. I like to see that!
(now start planning that wedding and saving up for your own place!)

OOh… here comes an idea. Since your sister is so perfect and organized, ask her to be your wedding planner!
Then she can shoulder some of the tasks and help you out.
All assuming, of course, that ya’ll get along REALLY well and wouldn’t murder each other before the big day!
