santa loves me!

I am blogging from my parents’ house in Colorado, where it was officially 67 degrees and sunny today. So much for our White Christmas — it feels like June!

I am home with my mom, dad, sister, and brother-in-law, who had an unfortunate snowboarding accident last weekend that put his arm in a cast for the next six weeks. But aren’t they just too cute? Andrew flies in tomorrow night to join me for the rest of the week home.

Chris and Karlyn

(Ask me later about the unfortunate story of my brother-in-law getting thumb surgery on Thursday morning just 10 hours before getting on a plane to fly home. Let’s just say that pain medication + moving vehicles = lots of barfing + free drinks for everyone in the first seven aisles of the plane.)

I have to say that I am well-loved and have very generous family (read: Spoiled Rotten). On Friday, Andrew and I drove to Delaware and I got to open presents from his family, including fancy kitchen knives, two Vera Bradley bags, Victoria’s secret goodies, a Martha Stewart Weddings book, and more things I am probably forgetting due to my tryptophan-induced coma.

Yesterday, my boss called (yes, on Christmas Eve night!) to tell me I was getting a raise and a promotion! Woo Hoo!

This morning my family and I exchanged our gifts. I took this photo with my brand new digital camera (a Pentax Optio S6 for those who care — I love it already!):

Christmas Loot

At the very top are two pairs of pretty earrings and a bracelet. The top row is a wedding book and magazine, Gov. Bill Richardson’s book autographed to me, Oprah DVDs, stationery with my married name (can’t use those yet!), and a photo album of my entire childhood compiled by my mom.

Bottom row is cute “Mr. and Mrs.” pillowcases (do you people sense a theme here?), socks, lotion, a cute ATLoft sweater set, fuzzy socks, and a wedding scrapbooking kit.

The funniest thing about my family is that my dad gave my mom power tools and my mom gave my dad a vase. And they both liked what they got. So when you wonder why I am a little weird, just remember that.

Merry Christmas to you all!
