goin’ to the chapel…errr…beach

This weekend we passed the t-minus-8-months till the Big Day mark, and I am feeling really good about everything but my diet. That part is still very much a work in progress, and yes, I may have eaten two small pieces of cake at work today. Bah! But this post is about good wedding news. Mostly because the gorgeous and very pregnant Isabel asked for it. And also because the gorgeous and still-barely-a-newlywed Sarah showed me how to make cool flickr montages!

Let me just say before anyone sues me or something that I didn’t take any of these photos, but I am borrowing them for my wedding insipration. Brides get special treatment like that, and I feel safe saying that because I have at least 3 jillion friends who are going to be lawyers in a few short years.

So, here are the things you see in that photo mosaic (l-r):

  1. Starfighter lily - my flowers are picked out, priced out, and will be ordered soon. A friend from home is nice enough to do the arrangements for me, so I get to buy everything wholesale and save major moolah. I love how the pink of these flowers matches my bridesmaids and the white matches moi!
  2. The pool at the hotel. Where the post-ceremony cocktail hour will be held. Can you say margarita on the rocks en espanol? Also? Allegedly having a classical guitar player for this part. But he won’t email me back. Which is extremely annoying.
  3. Dress I like from Nicole Miller. But I’m not officially going dress shopping until next Friday!
  4. See #3.
  5. Annoyingly square photo of pretty beet-colored bridesmaids dress. Luckily, my ‘maids are all supermodels and have perfect heads and legs, unlike this photo.
  6. Lime centerpiece idea. Can you say el cheapo? Um, I mean muy creative!
  7. The view from our hotel room. This, I cannot wait for.
  8. More gorgeous hotel photos.
  9. An amazing centerpiece idea. I will be buying those greens, but the orchids are most definitely not in my budget.
  10. We will say our vows right there on that sand you see.
  11. My bouquet inspiration, but see flowers in #1.
  12. Andrew’s suit. Bought for 50% off! He will ditch that ugly shirt and tie ensemble shown in the photo and instead wear an untucked white linen shirt and flip-flops.

I could probably bore you with lots more wedding updates (like? did I mention that people in Mexico don’t like to email me back? even though I am willing to pay them lots of money to do things for me), but I have to save something to complain about to my real-world friends! The next big steps for us are designing invitations and registering for gifts. Oh, and my four-stop wedding gown extravaganza next Friday!

  1. Gorgeous, all of it. Breathtakingly gorgeous. It makes me want to get married again, right there in that same sandy spot! Le sigh.

  2. Wow, wow and wow some more! I got married in Cyprus so am with you on the beach thing….and the dress thing…..and the lilly thing!!!
I am now seriously contemplating a divorce so I can do it all over again.
Flipping heck and WOW some more!!

  3. awwww thanks, girls! that makes me feel really good :) (but no divorces please, really)

  4. The photo montage is amazing. there’s a dress in JCrew that resembles that Nicole dress, if you really wanted to out-do yourself with JCrew-ness. I really like the lime idea, are you surprised?

Is Andrew going to get a pedicure before the wedding :)

  5. First of all, thanks for saying that I’m gorgeous. I love you for that (especially today when I don’t feel so hot).

Okay-love the photos!!! ALL OF THEM. The lily is amazing. (We also got our flowers wholesale. Saved so much money!) Wedding dress-super HOTT. Bridesmaids dresses, also HOTT. Mexico and hotel-perfect (of which I’m super jealous)! I love, love, love the centerpieces. That is a really great idea. The color of limes is such a vibrant color, and will look great against your white and pink.

I especially love the suit with flip-flops! (and the fact you got it 50% rules. My hubby also got his DKNY wedding suit for a STEAL and every time he puts it on I remember our wedding day and how much I love him, blah, blah.) I think suits are so much better than tuxes, because you can wear the suit again.

Anyway, loved the post. Thanks for updating us.

  6. I LOVE the limes, LOVE LOVE LOVE. I hope you use them. The color is great and el cheapo is nice too, of course.

  7. Wow, your wedding is going to be absolutely AMAZING. The location? Incredible. The dress? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE buy it, it’s gorgeous. The color and flowers? Perfect for the location, white sand, blue water, and that corally pinky color…AHHH. Can I come? :) Just joking, but it is making me wish I could get married and plan a whole other wedding all over again. Is it too weird to renew vows after only 1.5 years??
Well, maybe I can just talk Husby into taking a mini-tropical-vacay.

  8. Hey Janet, I love the lime idea- and really everything about the wedding! I told Karlyn yesterday I really dig your blog, it is one of my favorite things to look at when i should be studying for finals!
