put me in, coach!
June 1st, 2006 @ 8:19 pm | miscellany | Post a CommentI’ve been known to have this problem where I find a new hobby (or diet or workout plan), become a teensy little bit obsessed with it, spend lots of money on supplies and classes, do it for about 3 months, and then drop it like a bad habit. See for examples: knitting, sewing, kickboxing, Pilates, and that one weirdo diet that I thought was such a good idea and did for a whopping three days.
I also have a really good track record of deciding I am going to lose weight for real this time, and whaddya know, that hasn’t really happened either.
So I’m here to confess that I’ve been suckered in again. I have a new hobby. I hope it helps me lose weight. I’ve invested the money up front so it better work. Oh, and did I mention? It’s at the butt crack of dawn. Every day.
I’ve gone and signed myself up for a running boot camp. Monday through Friday at 6:00 AM sharp I have to show up at a park and do whatever my Coach tells me to do. Yes, I even have a Coach! Doesn’t that make it sound all fancy and Olympic-like instead of painful and suicidal?
I just hope tomorrow’s scheduled “Fun Run” includes donuts. But I kinda doubt Coach will go for that…

Donuts are good for a hangover…perhaps a walk to Krispe kreme is just what we’ll need on Sunday AM. Plus, the walk is exercise.
Good luck with Boot Camp! I think it is awesome that you are doing it. I did two squats tonight and almost fell over both times in pain.

I see this crazy bootcamp workout group in the park here all the time. The Coach is always wearing camouflage, screaming and blowing a whistle. The women always look like they want to die. But best of luck to you!!!!
Seriously. I don’t think I could do it. Let us know how it goes!

That’s so cool! I hope you get the results you want, but even if you don’t, I’m sure you will have lots of crazy stories!

Okay, it’s 7:20 and I’m back. Half alive. Sweating like a monster. This morning our run included laps up and down the longest escalator on earth and a run through the zoo (no panda sightings, sadly).
It’s not really boot camp in the sense they they pretend to be military like. I just call it that to make it sound fancy. No whistles, either. Thank goodness.
Am I skinny yet? I wish…

they were moving, and luckily we were moving with them, not against them. But these are REALLY long and REALLY slow escalators.
But no, I’m not whining or anything

OMG. It sounds both fancy and Olympic-like AND painful and suicidal.
With emphasis on the painful and suicidal. I’m impressed, girl!

Let see, I dropped a few hundred on a food color ink printer that prints on sugar paper for my picture cookies project, I spent seventy on the foam and ribbons for my “house” shapes on the cakes I supply to realtors in the area, I willing gave Hobby Lobby about the same amount in jewelry making supplies, but thank goodness it is summer and I can actually do something with all this neat stuff!
I remember my boyfriend coming to my bedroom window at 5:30am and waking me up to go running in the mornings my first year of college! Felt great once I actually finished. Hardest part was getting out of bed so early. You can do it!! Good vibes to ya!
I just dropped 20 pounds in 2 months on Atkins and feel so awesome, better than I have in more than 15 years!

I a, all to familiar with the new hobby on a whim thing. it goes on with all four of us at my house. But I must give my son credit, at least he masters his hobbies before he moves on, more than can be said for the rest of us. I’ll be rootin’ for you in the Boot Camp but in case it doesn’t work, look into the nutri systems ‘nourish’ diet plan. my Dad has been on it for 5 months and he has lost 72lbs. no kidding, i have no stake in the company but he looks awesome and I am really impressed.

Whoa! More power to you. I’m not a runner. I’m a couch-er. Good for you. If it works for you, maybe I’ll try it.
(And I don’t see anything wrong with starting new projects before finishing old ones. Though, it would probably help me out a lot. Especially with all of that new yarn.

When I read the title to this post I thought you were talking about a new Coach purse, and I was excited to hear all about it.
But then I read it and figured out you were talking about working out.
Not so exciting!
(But good for you….am so impressed!)
