the sorta bad and the very good
August 7th, 2006 @ 10:41 pm | miscellany | Post a CommentApparently today my spam filter decided that all of you dear friends were trying to sell me shoe porn or something and blocked all your comments. I think I safely recovered them though — sorry about that! What a joy to discover 10 comments all at once. (I am sifting through the sexy/suicidal votes and will let you know my final decision later, I promise.)
Ugh, I am in the worst mood now because I realized tonight that I hate rebates and I will never buy anything again with a rebate unless I fill the damn thing out the same day I get it. No wonder stores offer them, because dummies like me get suckered in and then sit on our receipts for awhile or so, nevermind that we are busy, oh, like planning a very important wedding in a foreign country and perhaps don’t have time to fill out the seventeen forms and mail them to a P.O. Box in freakin’ Toledo.
And if you are from Toledo and you got one of your comments blocked today, I am double sorry.
On a happier note, because really I am an optimist at heart, tomorrow is my last day of work (and of life!) wearing glasses or contacts or any kind of vision correction because I am getting my eyeballs lasered on Wednesday morning!
I keep thinking of my dad’s favorite saying:
“Guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses.”
“But I want to see who makes passes at me.”
On top of perfect vision that will be mine, all mine, in 36 hours, I have been prescribed the following:
- About $100 in various eyedrops, ointments, and other doodads to squirt in my eye for the next week.
- A 2-3 hour (minimum! with Valium!) nap on Wednesday afternoon.
- No working out for one whole week.
I would pay for #1 five times over just to have a doctor prescribe me #2 and #3!

Good luck (on Wednesday morning). How exciting for you!!

Good luck with the Lasik! Hopefully you can get your doctor to prescribe you breakfast in bed, chocolate ice cream and, eventually, huge amounts of online shopping!

Ahh! Good luck! Lasik is one of the best things I ever did… and you will be surprised at how soon you are feeling great! It’s amazing how fast your eyes heal.
Thinking of you today!

Good luck! I accompanied my mom to her Lasik surgery four years ago and watched in on closed-circuit television… It was such an amazing experience for her. After 30+ years with a -6.25 correction, she was able drive herself to the follow-up appointment the next day without glasses!!
She loved it so much that she offered to pay for me to get my eyes done. Unfortunately, the whole closed-circuit television thing rendered me totally squeamish about the procedure.

Ohhhh I am soo jealous! The last time I talked to my doctor he told me to check back in 7 years when the lasers would be strong enough to correct my jacked up vision! GOOD LUCK!

You’re so lucky! I can’t have the procedure because I have a thyroid condition that’s considered an auto-immune disorder and for some reason that disqualifies me.
I haven’t been able to see the numbers on the alarm clock in the middle of the night for well over twenty years!
PS - Everytime I shave under my arms now I think of how you could have possibly hurt yourself so…

Good luck with Lasik! How exciting! I’m totally with you; I’d definitely pay for #1 to get told to do #2 and #3!

Good luck with the surgery. It looked easy enough when Jessica Simpson did it. You should have no worries. Make sure to get a limo ride home!

I’ve been hearing so much about Lasik surgery lately…I think I’ll have to buckle down and get it soon myself. Everyone always seems so ecstatic with the results.
