January 21st, 2007 @ 11:12 pm | food, miscellany | Post a CommentYes indeed friends, I have a new header gracing the top of the page. You can either call it perfectly charming or God, don’t you have something better to do on a Saturday night?!? What if I told you I designed it while sitting next to my husband, thereby rendering the evening a date and not entirely wasted on being a nerd? Also, I slightly updated the about and wedding planner pages, seeing as I am no longer planning a wedding. (I know I remind you of this tragedy weekly, but it still saddens me! Deeply!)
Broken. Record. I know.
In other boring-ass weekend news, Andrew and I successfully completed Day 1 of the South Beach Diet. While I am generally a fan of a quasi-Weight Watchers plan, it is not working these days and I am feeling like a giant cow. Moooooooooooooo! We have enlisted desperate measures and hope to be looking trim by Andrew’s 30th birthday one month from now. Any South Beach lovers/haters/tips/tricks out there? Help a starving girl out!

Hi - I guess it’s time to de-lurk. I’ve been reading your page for awhile since I linked to it from goldmoon’s page. Both she and I follow the southbeach diet…I encourage you to check out the forum here http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/forum/index.php
it’s a great resource and how she and I met.
Love your page, I’ll start commenting more often =)

I bought the South Beach Diet book about 2 years ago. Then I decided that I did not like fish or tomatoes enough to eat them often enough. I am a huge Weight Watcher’s fan. I am planning on doing that again this summer and my husband is going to join me as we will both have baby weight to lose!! (His Taco Bell cravings are almost as bad as mine!)

So who’s more lame? You for designing a new header on a Saturday night or me for enjoying it on a Sunday night?
Either way, I like it. The font is yummy.
No comment on South Beach. But I love WW.

So here’s something pathetic: I didn’t see your new header initially, so I kept refreshing the page as though my life depended on it. MUST SEE NEW HEADER! That’s when I realized that I must have had that scary glint in my eye. Gah. But, very cool!
And here’s a probably dumb question, but is that hair yours? And was the girl in your previous header you?

I liked the new header! It seems like it was the weekend for website changes for both of us (except that I have no design skills, so I got a blog-friend to do mine for me). The changes on my site aren’t live yet, but if you check back later this afternoon or tomorrow they should be up and running.

My good friend Jackie had major success last year with South Beach, and my coworker is doing it now. (I have no helpful advice… but keep at it! It’s definitely worked for them!)

I think I know a few people who’ve done well on South Beach. I”ll ask them to come over here and give you some advice.

Reporting from PC land: your header looks the same. The only thing different so far is the color pic from your lovely wedding. Sorry to be a downer and report this.
SB diet- the twins tried it and it was sort of a pain. It seems to work- but the no drinking part isnt so fun.

I did South Beach for about a year and LOVED it. Then I kind of fell off the wagon. I really just wanted to lose a few pounds and feel better about myself, but I lost maybe 12 and my skin had never looked better, I’d never slept better, and I was just a much NICER person. It was awesome. And then I remembered how much I love sugar and sort of stopped following the rules completely.
I still make a lot of South Beach stuff these days, though, like the mashed cauliflower, and I only ever buy plain fat-free yogurt then sweeten it with Splenda. Phase 1 is tough and you’ll feel like hell for the first few days, but it does get better. It’s SO worth it. I should really get back on the wagon…

Sorry, I’m no help in the diet department as I have zero willpower. But I can definitely identify with staying in and being a blog potato on a Saturday night. And probably every other night of the week as well.

Hi. My name is SJ and I’m on the South Beach Diet. Teehee….
I’ve been on the diet for a little over a year now and I have had GREAT success. We are talking a 90 pound loss type of success. I absolutely love this diet (and I’ve tried a bunch)! Email me if you have questions, I’d be glad to help!
I think the best thing about the diet (IMO) is that when you are hungry - you eat. You eat until you are satisifed. There is no counting of anything - you just pick foods that are ‘allowed’ depending what phase you are in. I could go on forever but really, I wish you luck and great success, you can do it!

One year, I decided to do the south beach diet as part of my New Year’s resolution. I just happened to actually start it the day before I started the winter semester of college. Here I am on phase 1 of the diet, stuck in a dorm before the meal plan takes affect and the only thing I can eat is a can of tuna. I don’t have mayo. Or relish. Or a bowl. Yes, I sat there on my tiny dorm couch eating tuna straight from the can.
The funny thing is that I was so motivated to lose weight for the first two weeks that I ate the most random things, but move me to phase 2 where I had some freedom and I absolutely lost control and ate all the carbs I could find ever!

Ok, I will delurk myself since I actually have something to say … South Beach! Did it 2 years ago hardcore for about a month and lost 8 lbs instantly. Key word in that sentence is hardcore. I tried to do it this year in preparation for wedding dress fittings, but I just didn’t feel like giving up my nightly wine with Fiance, but I figured if I did everything else right I would be fine.
Ha!
If you don’t follow Phase 1 to the letter, not an lb will budge. It sucks, but should go fast. Good luck!

I started weight watchers 4 weeks ago and LOVE it. I like paying attention to what I eat, and being able to eat what I want. I’ve lost 10.5 pounds so far. (in three weeks).
I don’t think I could handle SB.
I like to eat Hershey’s kisses when I feel like it.
You have tons of will power woman! Good luck!

South Beach is the best diet EVER! I did South Beach after I graduated college back in 2004 and lost 35 pounds. It rocks! It taught me healthy lifestyle eating. I still try to limit my carbs even though I’m not currently on a diet.
