love & hate, optimism edition

love: I seem to be sticking to my resolution pretty well. I’m trying to make this week’s theme High Energy. I got up this morning and went running. Husband and I made dinner together tonight. I have dinner plans with a friend for Wednesday. No time to sit around and wallow!
hate: We got stuck in a massive, thunderous rainstorm walking to our anniversary dinner at the brand new Casa Oaxaca on Saturday night. By the time we arrived, totally soaking wet, the wait was an hour. We ate at the bar, where service was slow to start and they were out of the appetizer I wanted (plantain patties stuffed with black beans).
love: Once we had a round of (fresh, delicious) margaritas, things got much better. The bartender gave us a second round of drinks free and our entrees were absolutely delicious (chicken and tres moles for him; carnitas tacos for me). DC is majorly lacking in good Mexican food, so we will definitely go back to this place to transport our imaginations back to our honeymoon.
hate: Monday night TV. Heroes and 24 - gag.
love: We are participating in a giant neighborhood yard sale this weekend. I am thrilled to be purging everything I can get my hands on. By the time we ever buy a place I am going to be so ready to move that I don’t want to have to sift through a bunch of crap. Anyone want a bunch of old PS2 games? An old Dirt Devil? Oodles of winter scarves? The crappiest laptop ever made? Come on by!
hate: Due to my resolution, I’m not allowed to actually hate anything this week. So I hate….AIDS. And cancer. And mean people.
love: My copy of my The Random Muse’s new book has been shipped from Amazon! Just in time for my little upcoming vay-cay. Have you ever read a book by someone you know, because this might be a first for me? Okay, so maybe I don’t really know know Martha, but we sometimes exchange emails about our love for shoes. That counts, right?
hate: that I am so not ready to wear a bikini at the beach in 12 days! Eek! However, in the spirit of Optimism! and Having A Positive Attitude! I am going to take Lauren’s advice and just get over myself and have fun. And then get back on the wagon afterward.
love: I get to finally wear all my fabulous summer wedges that have been hibernating all winter! I know this much is true: You can’t be too pale or flabby for sexy cork wedges!
hate: No more hating today…moving on…
love: Starting to think about what should be on my birthday list this year. Perhaps some cute flip flops? A pod coffee maker? Watercolor painting supplies?
hate: Oh wait, I have a good hate! I hate that chocolate and money don’t grow on trees. Aren’t we smart enough to be genetically engineering that by now?
love: How could I forget? Lindsey is engaged! Go send her some love! And then leave your loves and hates for me (and I solemnly swear I won’t do another post like this for awhile).

Love: Monday night TV! That is, specifically, How I Met Your Mother. Neil Patrick Harris is the man.
Hate: That HIMYM had its season finale last night and I can’t urge you to go watch the show.
Love: Gilmore Girls and their fast banter!
Hate: That the SERIES finale is tonight. But it’s time. I just need to accept it. There will always be the DVDs…
Love: Feeling fit and slightly more skinny after a few weeks of climbing.
Hate: That I will never have pretty nails if I keep beating them up with chalk and rocks.
Love: Busting out my ever-growing flip-flop collection!
Hate: That I can’t find wedges I like, I can afford, and I can walk in.

Hate: This gawd awful black eye that I have right now. I’ll post about THAT later.
Love: That I’m going on vacation to “Nawlins” in four days.
Hate: That the word “beach” isn’t in “Nawlins.” The beach will have to wait for a fall vacation.

oh.my.gooooodness. Those plantain patties stuffed with black beans sound SO GOOD! I, too, have been suffering from a lack of good Mexican food, and not because they don’t have it here. Because my pocketbook is ultra thin these days.

Love: Mexican food…come to Richmond, I’ll take you out for Mexican food. We’ll even bring Sarah’s real live Mexican so it will basically be the most authentic experience next to actually being in Mexico. And Edgar speaks Spanish. See, you have to come visit now.
