a little lagniappe
May 25th, 2007 @ 12:21 pm | miscellany | Post a CommentA few little tidbits before I head out to my Southern beach vacation, y’all!
**********
Last night I went to a “Clothing & Cocktails” party where a bunch of well-dressed, young urbanite ladies brought clothes and accessories they no longer wanted, dumped them in a big pile in the middle of a room, and fished around for items to swap out and take home in return.
Whoever thought of this idea was truly brilliant. Whoever added champagne and mini-quiches to the event? Also brilliant.
I was feeling a little guilty because I came empty-handed, considering I got rid of every last unwanted item at my yard sale just days ago. However, the girls were all very welcoming and said I should take anything I wanted. Unfortunately, most of the clothes were too small for me, but I did manage to snag a brand new Coach purse.
Yes, you read that right. Just to recap the party: In the company of fun, sassy, professional women, I was treated to warm appetizers and bubbly drinks and sent home with a free designer purse. Sometimes things are just too good to be true?

I am going to take the opportunity of a week off of work to wean myself off of my newly acquired coffee habit. (Hi, I am 25 and just discovered the wonders of caffeine.) It’s not that I don’t love the taste or the awakening effects, but I’m feeling some guilt over the calories required just to make it taste good. Also? Today marks the three-year anniversary of when I started this job. Hold me.
**********
Here is my vacation agenda: Read Ivy Briefs. Read eat pray love. Lay on the beach. Run on the beach. Play tennis.
Anything else I accomplish is a bonus.
**********
Have a fabulous long weekend. I’m not going to promise any posts while I’m away but considering I blogged from my honeymoon I wouldn’t worry about missing me for too long.

Way to come away from that party with a brand new bag! Nice job!
Have wonderful trip!

Why on earth did someone not want that purse?? GO YOU! I love it!
(I became addicted to coffee last year, also at 25. It’s the first thing I think about when I wake up and my bribe to myself for going to work every day. Sad, huh?)

Cute bag!
And a Starbucks Tall Skim Latte with SF vanilla or hazelnut is only 2 points, and is a full serving of milk…

Would DIE for a free Coach purse. Then would have it laid gently and lovingly into my grave with me.

That purse is fabulous! I am totally jealous!
I also have a caffeine habit that I picked up when I started working, which was umm..about 2 1/2 years ago. Yeah. It’s bad. If I don’t have coffee every single morning I get grumpy and/or headaches. Get out while you still can. It’s pretty much a gateway drug because not only do I need coffee in the morning, but I can’t sleep until I do a line of coke.
Is that what people do? lines of coke? Did I say that right? I’m so (un)cool.

I love that party concept. I have thought of it myself and didnt really know it existed. It’s like the lost and found at the end of the school year- anything is fair game. Esp. when you wear a uniform.

clothing and coctails? how brilliant. last summer my neighbor and i piled all of our “don’t wants” together and traded. i came home with 2 new purses, 3 skirts for work, and 2 tops. for free. i can’t imagine how great it would have been to have multiple exchanges.
have a great trip…

That party sounds too good to be true. Did you actually buy yourself a new purse and are trying to trick your hubby into thinking it was free? Because if so, you are brilliant!

[…] What’s in it for you? Aside from the fame and fortune that will befall you once you are featured here on this blog that technorati ranks somewhere in between “almost as exciting as chewed gum” and “more popular than post-prison Paris,” I am giving away a prize to the best entry: a like-new, pretty, buttery soft, chocolate brown, leather Coach purse. (Please disregard the fact that I got it for free, because I am willing to part with it for the sake of The Contest. Also? I need to buy a new car and cannot really afford any other prizes right now.) […]
