somebody hold me

Assuming I don’t freak out and/or panic in the next hour, we are submitting a contract on a house tonight.

With a closing date set for two weeks away.

So if you don’t hear from me for a few (more) days, it’s because I am furiously trying to do the million things necessary to buy a house in 14 days. Did I mention I will be out of town for 10 of those 14 days?

This is a huge, freaky, scary milestone. I’m holding my breath. Will keep you all posted.

10:40 PM Edit: After signing and initialing about a bajillion pieces of paper, we find out there is an issue with the deed and the lot and blahblahblablalbhlah, which means no offer tonight. Sorry to get everyone’s hopes up. You can all go back to bed now. Thanks for tuning in.

  6. oh my goodness! Congrats… or good luck… or whatever one should say in the situation. Maybe it’s a good thing it’s happening in a quick whirl-wind-like fashion, less time to stress out (just more ‘concentrated’ stressing, heh)

  7. Two weeks! AAAAAA! And Yay!

  8. Congratulations!!! Fingers crossed!

  9. I have my fingers crossed for you!!

  10. Good luck! I think it’s better that’s it is happening fast…our home purchase dragged out for months and it was painful. Fingers crossed for you.

  11. Oh boy I was all ready to leave my congratulatory comment when I saw your update. Isn’t real estate fun? Well anyway, congrats on getting up the nerve to make an offer at least, thats big. I can’t wait to hear more! And I can’t believe you might practically be visiting me when the deal goes down!

  12. Update or not, things seem full speed ahead at your place. Will be wishing you luck! xo

  13. Wow that was quick.
    I hope it works out.

And I hope you write a manual for all of us hoping to buy in the future!
    :)

  14. Oh Bughar! (or however you spell it).

  19. Buying a house is such an experience. It can be great or horrible. I had a mix of both! All I can say is I hope things go super smoothly for you!

  20. Insanity! How exciting. I really hope it works out for you. :)
Where are you going for 10 days?

  23. […] Oh, and we aren’t buying that house anymore. To make a long story short, there is this skinny little rectangular house on this skinny little lot that we assumed was also rectangular. But it’s more like a rectangle with a bite out of it, and the bite actually belongs to the neighbor’s lot. Imagine that! So there is a little dispute that has to get resolved before we would even think of buying it. I’m just hoping they don’t literally take a bite out of the kitchen and give it to the neighbor to solve the problem. Then I would totally not be able to make cookies to feed the homeless men who live on the corner. […]
