home sweet home

I’m blogging from my parents’ house in (exurban) Denver, where the crickets are chirping, the air smells delicious, and the volume on the television is always on EXTRA-LOUD. Thankfully, my dad makes up for his deafness by letting me watch really bad tv when we are together, which the husband totally does not. In fact, right now we are watching Flipping Out.

Side note, but my sister called me last week to tell me she thinks she would be a good employee of the Flipping Out guy because she is as OCD as he is. She admires his list-making skills. This probably explains why she is on her way to a fancypants career as a dentist and I am…not. Not even close. I’m just a blogger who has made $25 in Google ads this year.

So I am home in gorgeous Colorado all week. Last time I was here, it looked like this,

lots and lots of snow

and all I did was shovel snow every 14 minutes.

This week I plan on visiting a few different cities and friends and maybe going hiking. (My other goal is to drop my new habit of using the word “soda” and go back to my roots as a “pop” kind of girl.) Unfortunately, I was so busy this month that I kind of dropped the ball on planning this trip and totally failed to actually make plans with anyone other than my BFF. So, if you live here and are reading this (Jessica? Katie? Lori? Betsy? Audrey?), ummmm, do you want to hang out? I’m in town!

Have fun at work tomorrow everyone — I’ll be off playing with the cutest baby ever!

  1. Have a great time, Janet. Hope you enjoy the time spent catching up with people.. and enjoying that summer weather while you can!

  2. P.S. The crazy text stalkers are still taking up residence on top of your blog. Freaks.

  3. It’s so good to be home, isn’t it? I wish I were at home for a few days. Have a really good time. And it’s SODA, damn it!

  4. Hooray for trips home! I’ve abandoned “pop” for “soda,” too… Have to pick your battles, I say.

I hope your parents spoil you. Also, if you feel like Fedexing me a six pack of Fat Tire, please feel free.

  5. Oh, my goodness, you are all over the place! That August calendar did not lie.

Also - if it matters, I wonder if the weird text at the top of the page is affecting your RSS feed. At least it is for me. Anyone else?

  6. When you posted that picture of what Denver looked like last time you were home, I immediately scrolled down for the picture of what it looks like THIS time….and there was no picture!

That is as disconcerting as when you hear a song, KNOW that a certain note should come next, and then a different one comes! I’ll be in funk all day, now.

Hee, but seriously, have a great time at home. No place like it.

  7. Being a “soda” girl all my life, I’ve never really understood the whole “pop” thing.

Colorado sounds like a blast. That’s one place I’ve never been that I’d like to go to some day. Of course, there are a lot of places I’ve never been to that I’d like to visit.

    Have Fun!

  8. Happy! (non snow-laden) trip to you. : )
