clean slate
August 26th, 2007 @ 10:24 pm | miscellany | Post a CommentDespite the fact that I’ve had a really fun month full of out-of-town trips and quality girlfriend time, I’ve been feeling quite stressed and frazzled. I feel behind on everything from work to email to exercise to cleaning to calling my friends.
I’ve also been neglecting the blog, my commenters and readers, and emails from y’all. What I’d like to do is ask that we wipe the slate clean. Pretty please? I hereby promise that if you leave a comment on this post, I will visit your blog and read a little and comment back. Or email you back to say Hi. Or answer whatever curious question you might have. Whatever you want! And I also promise I won’t go another (sleep-deprived, travel-weary, hostess-with-the-mostest) week without posting!
(Oh, and for those of you that noticed that my blog is now fixed and also once again showing up in google reader, all I had to do was disable my stat counter. So I have no idea if you are currently reading this page or not, in the aggregate, at least. Or how you got here. Consider yourself dangerously anonymous.)
You may wonder what have I been up to for the past week? Mostly I was hosting a girls’ weekend at my house. Sort of a continuation of my Akron trip earlier this year, but with much less wine. (In fact, I have four bottles left just sitting in my pantry. Wanna come over?)
Despite the moderate wine-drinking, my girlie-girl skills are definitely in tip-top shape: This weekend we stayed up until 4am, practiced hairdos (blowouts, french braids, and updos), baked cookies at midnight, lounged together on the couch in our pj’s, ate a lot of brunch, and met funny Australian guys in bars. And I am getting even more girl time in next weekend when I get to meet (in person!) the fabulous Hola, Isabel. I know, you’re jealous, aren’t you?!
Enough rambling for now. Remember - leave a comment, and I swear on the holy TiVo that I will reply or leave a comment on your site. While you’re at it, can you also make french braids come back in style, because I really kick ass at them.

I feel dangerously annonymous!
I was just so thrilled to see your blog reappear in my Google Reader.
Also, I’m totally jealous that you get to meet Isabel. I’ve gotten totally hooked on her blog because of you. Have a great time!

Um, I totally still wear french braids - but only if I can get two at once, striped on each side of my head. That makes it ok, right? (Right?!?)
And just for the record, I am so totally jealous you get to meet Isabel! Jealous with a very big, capital J! I really hope you blog about it so I can envy you both, again.

Aww, those girl skills and your fun night of hair do’s and midnight cookies sounds like awesome fun to me! I need to do that. I’ve been wanting to have an all girls slumber party and kick the guys out. But all of “old married folks” would probably conk out around 11 p.m., hehe.

Oh, MORE blogging meetups? You guys are all making me jealous, stuck over here. And hot Aussie boys? What? Where? *sniff* Am heartily saddened by this post, Miss Janet.

Glad you’re back! Actually, it appears that you weren’t gone for nearly as long as I thought seeing as 4 different posts popped up in my reader. Oh well. Perfect way to start a Monday! Have a good one!

Wow. I don’t think I’d be girly enough for your girl weekends, Janet! I can’t do hair, paint nails, or drink wine, but I CAN bring cookies! Would I be allowed?

Don’t feel bad…slacking on the blog seems to be the thing to do lately. I’m guilty too!
You’re girl time sounds like such a blast…I need that too!
And I vote no on the french braids…mainly because I can’t french braid to save my life, and what if it comes back in style and I can’t do it to my daughter’s hair?? Oh gosh, now I’m getting a complex!!

We are living the same life. I had a fabulous girly weekend, and came home and was immediately overwhelmed by how behind I am on everything except eating ice cream and drinking wine. Thank goodness Labor Day is coming up, I’m counting on that extra day to catch up on everything.
You’re back in my Google Reader now too. Hooray!

I wondered where you were! I didn’t even think that something could be wrong with Google Reader, until this morning when all of your posts appeared. I’ve read all four posts now, so I’m all caught up. Glad you’re back, er…I’m back…or whatever.
Oh, and I want to hear ALL THE DETAILS about your bloggy date with Isabel. And pictures please too. Because I’m needy like that.

I was stumped by how you would practice blowouts? Mommy brain has me thinking about poop all the time!
And I love French Braids! You’d think with all the preppy fashions out there, that they’d go great with the early 80s “Facts of Life” styles out there. Of course I guess fashionable Blair didn’t have french braids that was Natalie and Jo… maybe even Tuti…

Hi! I don’t feel like you’ve been quite as AWOL as you think you are. I figured you were alive and well. The end of summer drags everyone down, I think.
I would really like to attend a hairdo party. My repertoire pretty much only includes (1) ponytail (2) messy bun.

I think we have the blowout down, but the updos need some work. Maybe we could be hired to host other people’s Girls Weekends with our developing skills of hair, sewing and creative drinks!
I had the bestest time ever and glad my sparkling water has influenced the sidebar…(now if it could only influence Andrew to stop the Diet Coke addiction.)

And I’m excited to meet you. I think I’ve been reading your blog for over 2 years. Dude, I knew you before you were even engaged!! That’s history!!
I love french braids. My husband swears that double french braids is the hottest look for a girl. So Heidikins, be careful!!

I hope that you had a TON of wine because having 4 whole bottles left over after a girls weekend is unacceptable.
But yes, if I was in DC, I would come right over.
For wine and french braids!

Happy to hear Colorado was awesome…..I very much need an all girls weekend myself (even though my friend chiada says she’d poop out on me LOL). I looooove having my hair played with now that its finally long enough for braids.

I was (sadly!) not reading your blog yet back in January, or you would NOT have escaped coming to Akron and drinking wine without me! (I live just north of Akron.) (And I love wine.) Maybe next time…

And now I’m jealous of your girlie weekend. Glad you had a great time though! And glad you’re back!

I found your blog through a link on Janet’s (Slice of Pink) and I LOVE it! It is going to be one of my new favorite blogs I can tell you that. I love your tag line about wakling a fine line between blonde bombshell & crazy cat lady! I will leave more comments in the future & I will be back. Feel free to check out my blog as well. A new reader in the Midwest.

How could I not forgive you, when I’m the one who promised you Charleston restaurant and bar recommendations, then got swamped out with work and let your arrival date sneak up on me–no, pass me by–without any recommendations.
I suck. Please forgive me.
