would you like the good news or the bad news first?

Good news: The house inspection went really well. We will probably negotiate some small things, but nothing that should be a deal-breaker. So we’ve crossed that hurdle. (A very big hurdle in a 98-year-old house, imho.)

Bad news: How about I let the photos speak for themselves?

car accident

sad new car, it has a big boo-boo

Good news: I am okay. The guy who hit me is okay. We both have insurance. Everything is going to be just fine.

  1. At least you didnt have an iphone in the trunk.

  2. I feel your pain (or the pain of your car!) This happened to me earlier in the summer. But you are right, the important thing is nobody was hurt and it is just metal and paint and rubber.

  3. Wow… that sucks. Good attitude about it though. :)

  4. OMG… those pictures make me want to cry!! Your brand new shiny car!

I’m glad everyone is OK. And sounds like it wasn’t your fault… that’s always a bonus (not that I know what it’s like, since every accident I’ve ever been in was my fault, minus one)

(I’ve been in a lot of accidents, OK? Don’t judge)

  5. Remember how we have identical cars? Well, maybe I should have mentioned that I was in a pretty big car accident TWO DAYS after I got my Mazda 3. I had to have basically the whole front of my car replaced. But it is still running great and looks perfect! Sorry your car got crunched too. And I’m glad you and the other guy are ok.

  6. Full steam ahead on the house - woo hoo! But your car makes me feel sad. It’s like a giant bruise…

  7. Poor car! Glad you’re okay though.

Also happy to hear about the home inspection, that’s gotta be a weight off your shoulders.

  8. Oh no!!! I’m glad everyone is okay and that you’ll get the car repaired. But, just what you need, another task. As we say in MN, “uffda!”

  9. Yay! for the house.
Eek! for the car. But I’m so glad you’re ok!

  10. Oh no! And you guys just got that car! Still, I’m glad you’re keeping a great attitude and it sounds like things are going great with the house. Ugh…this is just one more headache, but it sounds like everything is going to be okay.

  11. oh SUCKAGE! New car! I’m glad you’re okay.

When my car was just 6 days old, someone hit and run in the parking lot. I didn’t even see the front headlight smashed in until I got home. I WAS SO MAD.

    Yay for house!

  12. Oh no!!! Nonononono! And I thought I was bummed when my five year old car (that we had started maybe talking about selling) got hail damage! So sorry. Glad you are okay! What happened!?

  13. Oh my god Janet.

    I’m glad that you’re okay!

My jaw dropped when I saw those pictures.

  14. Awwww, you must have been so upset! Even though it’s just a car… still, we get attached to our cars sometimes, especially if they are new and shiny. :( What a bummer. I’m so glad you are okay!

  15. I’m so glad you’re okay!

  16. Your poor car! But hooray for the house!

  17. Yikes! That looks nasty - what happened?

Glad to hear everything is okay, but poor you! And poor new car! *hugs*

  18. Wow, I’m glad you are okay and you both have insurance!

I’m a new reader, I found you through Cady’s blog. I’m in your neighborhood. Let me know if you ever want to get together for lunch or dessert or something during the day. I am usually in DC taking photos at least once a week!

  19. Ouch! That does not look like fun!

But woo hoo for a good home inspection!

  20. I’m so excited about the house. But, the car. Ouch. I’m glad you are okay, but still …

  21. Oh no…. that totally sucks! It seems to be in the air these days (hubby had an incident last week). But great news about the house :o)

  22. Wait is that the new car??? OH NO!! The important thing is that you are okay, but that sucks!

  23. I’m still GREEN with envy for the townhouse. GREEN! *sigh*
I’m also VERY sorry about the boo boo on your BRAND NEW CAR. I’m glad you’re okay and the dude’s okay, too. That stuff is scary. But, that’s why we pay insurance, right?

  24. So glad you’re ok. It’s only a material object. And an insured one at that, as you said.

    Go you on the house!

  25. I’m glad you’re ok. And cars can be replaced or fixed, but Janets are harder to come by!

  26. Oh no!!! Those photos made my stomach hurt a little. So glad you’re okay.

  27. I’m sorry you had an accident, everyone in DC is just so in a hurry to have accidents. It’s the reason why I have to prepare myself mentally for three days to drive up there to visit my mother. I just cannot contend with the City.

  28. Goodness, I’m glad you’re okay, Janet. Sorry about your new car, though.

  29. aww, poor Mazda3. They seem to find their way into accidents (I should know!) Glad you’re okay.

  30. Ouch, So sorry to hear about your accident. That sucks. I’m glad your okay and that the other guy is okay. The good news is that everyone has insurance and that you’ll get your car back soon enough. Sending you good vibes.

  31. That sucks. Glad you are okay!

  32. oh man, your poor car!! i’m glad you’re ok and that things are going well with the housebuying!

  33. Yes, good attitude. Bad car stuff. I am sorry about that!

More on the house - it’s so exciting, yes?

  34. Glad to hear you’re okay. We had our exact same car for about 6 or 7 months when our windows got shot out by a bb-gun. What is it with these silver Mazda-3’s? Bad luck?

  35. [...] Okay. Now I know that I don’t have a brand new car… in fact, my car was made in 1991, which makes it 16 years old. I’m sure Janet can tell you how traumatic it is to have your new car crunched. [...]
