still awaiting the hookup of the DSL

But, because I love you all so, here are some house photos to tide you over. If you want to click through to flickr I left notes on some of them. Anyone live in DC and need moving boxes? I have about 40 jillion of them, just holler.

First dinner in the new house, and we couldn’t find normal silverware/bowls to eat with:

first dinner in the new house

Living room, not exactly a “before” because that’s our stuff, but definitely not an “after” yet either:

living room, home of the extremely large TV, which is basically always tuned to ESPN

Dining room. Look, I had a dinner party and invited a lot of empty boxes over! Okay, I’m lame, I can’t even believe I just typed that.

one day, we will serve dinner in here. I swear

Kitchen:

kitchen!

Kitchen, part deux:

my kitchenaid mixer has a new home!

Hopefully you are sufficiently bored entertained. I wish I could write something deep and prolific about homeownership and the romance of newlyweds buying their first home and yadda yadda but I am too deeply tired for all of that. And I still haven’t finished cleaning out the old apartment yet…

  1. OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH! Your house is beautiful. And the kitchen? AWESOME! I am so excited for you, and the picture of you and Andrew eating out of giant bowls with mixing spoons is just classic.

Yay for homeownership! The gift that keeps on giving! ;)

  2. Your home looks beautiful! Again, congratulatins….

  3. Who hoo! Look at Hugo lounging on the fireplace like he owns the place or something. Oh wait, he does (in a way!) I hope this means you’ll soon be using all your wedding presents you never opened you crazy gal! Miss you!

  4. You’re house is beautiful. I just want your kitchen …
Since, you know, I don’t even live in the same country, I hope you don’t mind if I copy it :) (I’m not serious, but I’ve been trying to describe a kitchen like that to my husband).
And … I love that you don’t have cutlery but the tv is set up.
I think our husbands have the same priorities!

  5. The built ins are fabulous!

Also, I see nothing wrong with eating with a wooden mixing spoon any damn time you want to!

  6. I’m in love with your house! It gorgeous! I wish you many, many happy years there (well, until you want to move and be happier somewhere else).

I bet you know where the real bowls are, you just wanted to use the pretty new Martha colors. :)

  7. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tile backsplash in your kitchen! That’s what I want to do in ours (but I think I might wait until our next house- I wouldn’t want to build our dream kitchen in a house we may only be in for a couple more years!)

  8. janet, i love your new house. these are the things i especially love: the shelves, the floors, the kitchen. (if this was a janet blog, and i then had to name something i hate, i would say your cat’s devil eyes.) can i come visit? i need your new address.
