confessions 2

I suck at yoga. No, really.

I think there are at least a hundred better things our government could spend money on than me, but I’ll take the $300 anyway.

My cat just barfed in the kitchen and I did not get out of bed to clean it up.

I probably won’t read even one single book this month.

I told my husband I didn’t want him to go on a work trip to Vegas, even though he LOVES Vegas. Probably because he loves Vegas.

Judging by the number of them in my wallet, I might have a teeny, tiny problem hoarding gift cards.

We didn’t cancel HBO after our free trial ran out, even though it’s not in the budget.

I’m dying to find a way to make this loveseat look good in my bedroom, and thereby justify my desire to buy it. Ideas? Anyone? Please tell me you see the potential here.

An old friend is home from Iraq and I haven’t called him to say hi yet. Hi, Mr. Cheetos! Welcome home.

Several steps lie between me and my new apron. Namely: unpacking, going to the grocery store, and doing anything at all in my kitchen beyond dropping off the junk mail in the trash can.

My mother is going to just kill me for saying this, but I kind of want to paint my bedroom a different color.

Okay, your turn to ‘fess up. Leave them in the comments and I promise to forgive you for all of them in advance. Just like the pope.

  1. Ummm, I think I read 1-3 books in 2007. I think blogs should count as books.

Um, also, my dog barfed and I walked around it while I got ready for work because I cleaned it up the first time he barfed so I decided it was Edgar’s turn.

  2. I’m struggling with the tax rebate thing. I really think it is a terrible idea. I think we are getting something like $600. I am considering donating mine. Sherman’s portion in his savings account, and Train gets to spend his how he wants too. Although it could pay for a month of daycare. Ugh. Principles.

  3. I am still not 100% decided about the new bag.
I found my husband’s dirty cereal bowl next to the empty dishwasher this morning (AGAIN) and I wanted to scream. And then I put it in the dishwasher.
I just don’t care about the writers’ strike anymore, except that new sources can’t decide whether the phrase gets an apostrophe, and if so, where to put it.
I have only read 30 pages of my behemoth book this week, and book club is looming.

  4. Every time i say i’ll get up at 5:30 to go to the gym in the morning…i sleep till 7:30.

    I like tofu.

I don’t like taking my dog out in the cold so i make boyfriend do it and claim an upset tummy.

i drink too much wine, dr.pepper and hot chocolate. none of which is helping me lose my 20 lbs before april.

i miss good trashy teevee. will the writers strike just end already? gawd.

  5. I am tired and plan to spend the entire workday reading blogs, People.com, and working on homework. I hate my job.

  6. I really like that loveseat, but I think I would re-upholster it, which could be expensive. But it would still be cheaper than trying to buy the same loveseat brand new!

You should do the blog share in February so that you can share even more confessions!

  7. i spend too much on cute shoes.
i am jealous of my friend’s engagement news (just a little).
i should be working right now.

    happy weekend janet!

  8. my new years resolution was to make yoga a new weekly habit. i have been once! and feel extremely guilty.

i ate a big bowl of cereal this a.m. and i got to work and a coworker had brought me a bagel w/ cc. how could i resist 2 breakfasts.

i realized last night after i ate dinner, i forgot to do 2 very important tasks at work before i left.

i have to drive to LA this weekend…in the rain…and stay at my sisters home and dog sit…i am not looking forward to my weekend:(

all my fresh flowers in my apt. are all wilted. so much for the $40 i spent last weekend.

that loveseat most definitely has potential! recover it. it will be adorable.

  9. I confess … I like girls …

can you pay for HBO with the gift cards?

    ~Jef

  10. Hey there…I’ve been lurking but this post got me to comment! LOL Mine are over at my blog. Check them out….

  11. I haven’t finished a book since April.

    I blogged at work today.

I am at work right now, and obviously not working.

I took my daughter to daycare yesterday and then went shopping for a while instead of going straight back home to work.

I feel a bit of guilt about getting a tax rebate, but it could help a lot in our 5 year wedding anniversary vacation!

I have not been paying enough attention to presidential candidates, and I want to be an informed voter on Super Tuesday.

I forgot to pay a credit card bill last month, and just payed the finance charge instead of calling and asking them to take it off. I’m lazy. Please don’t tell my husband!

  12. I truly think I’m addicted to buying things. I’m so not joking right now. I wonder if there’s shopping rehab?

I am not sure what I think about the $600 check ethically/morally/politically, but I’m already thinking of the awesome trip we could take with that money. Like, we could go stimulate the economy in NYC…

  13. I didn’t get into work until almost 1 today.

  14. Despite the fact that we somehow have to come up with $5000 this summer for George’s bar review courses and the bar exam itself, and to cover the 6 weeks he’ll be taking off work to study, I’m still begging him to let me buy a new digital camera for my 30th birthday.

…My birthday isn’t until October, but I’m not the world’s most patient person.

  15. I just got back from a 5 day, 24 hour, hard partying cruise called The Rock Boat, and I still kind of want a drink. And it’s 2:50pm. On a weekday.

  16. Thanks for the forgiveness and grace, Pope Janet!

I am jealous of anyone around me who is excited about their careers/jobs/direction in life.

I want to crawl back into bed, even though it’s 1:00 in the afternoon.

I haven’t been to the gym in a week and a half.

  17. I made french toast for dinner last night. Even though I promised The King I would stop eating so much damn french toast. (Dude, that’s what he gets for leaving me for a business trip.)

(Also, Babboo and I just love it so much!)

The King and I talked about lowering our cable bill by canceling HBO. Then he reminded me it’s only $7.99. So yeah, now I want to add Showtime. :-)

  18. Oh, and I spent way too much at Ann Taylor Loft last night on my way home from work. And on their website yesterday. Shhhh, don’t tell.

(40% off the sale price? How can you say “No” to a $17 blazer!?)

  19. First off you’re not bad at yoga! The whole point of yoga is that it’s not competitive!

    I confess that I still haven’t taken a shower today and it’s 3pm. Whoops!

  20. I’ve been trying to finish Wicked for two months, and I feel like it will take me another two months to pick it up.

I still have four hours left of work and I don’t want to do anything, ah Fridayness.

pps. I think you could easily get that love seat and reupholster it to match your room. It’s a cute style.

  21. ummm, I’ll go: I am thisclose to: starting an anonymous blog, because I have so much crazy stuff is going on with my life!

  22. I check your blog everyday…but this is good, because I love it :)

I totally love yoga. I am contemplating going into debt for a yoga training…

    I hate my roommate.

I have never drank or smoked so much in my life.

I made out with a Frenchie tongiht.

I am drunk. I try to hide this fact from my parents despite the fact that I am 27 years old.

I am sorry for tarnishing your blog comments!

  23. My parents are not doing too good on money, and I have a gym membership that they pay for. I haven’t been to the gym in 4 months.

  24. hmmm, I don’t know if the pope forgives your sins before you commit them…I think that’s Jebus.

uh…let’s see…I’ve got an online shopping addiction. I know I can just go to the store down the street to get the stupid super on sale slippers, but it’s just so much easier to have them delivered right to my house. All for $5 plus tax.

  25. -I hate Walmart, but readily accepted a Sam’s Club membership as a gift.
-I am addicted the the challenge of seeing how long I can go without washing my hair. I am a student, so THINK I can get away with this.
-I want to be good at one crafty thing, but dont want to take the time.
-I took a career test a year ago that told me I dont like to do things that require using my hands or getting dirty and I use this knowledge to get out of a lot of tasks. Good thing M likes using hands and dirty disgusting tasks.
-I think Reno 911 is my favorite show in the current TV climate
    - I never complain about the media because I am addicted to campaign coverage. My dad always complains about the media.
-I am keeping some of my birthday cards unopened to open on my birthday, but I did open the one that had a gift card in it- Thanks future In-laws!

  26. I will help you paint the bedroom and Allison is right, you cannot be bad at yoga. It should be a personal challenge, not a competitive challenge. I have the world’s shortest tendons in my legs and cannot even do dogward dog properly.

No one should feel guilty about their tax rebate- just make sure you use it to stimulate the economy, right? Or donate some to your favorite charity.

  27. I don’t know if I suck or excel at yoga, because I’ve never tried it! Which is much worse than trying and deciding it isn’t for you. :)

  28. I am up at 1:30am PST watching tennis. Because I am a dork.

I ate three chocolate chip cookies for dinner.

I am not smart enough to figure out how to post a little photo of my face next to the comment.

  29. I suck at yoga too, glad I’m not the only one.

  30. I am NOT flexible eough for yoga. :(

  31. i don’t have a huge confession…just that i wish this was friday evening instead of sunday evening because the thought of getting up for work tomorrow makes me feel slightly ill. that’s pretty bad, huh? anyhoo, love your new blog design!!! it is sooooo cool!! and hey, thanks for stopping by. come back now, ya hear? :)

  32. Great blog! I found it through Janssen’s blog, btw. Love, love, love the post about the plates hanging on the wall. I actually collect plates just for that very reason. In fact, in our bedroom there are two big windows with plates hanging in a line above each one.
My hubby and I are moving to DC for the summer so I just thought I’d say hi future neighbor!
    loves.

  33. Haha to the Vegas comment, my guy loves Vegas too and I was skeptical about bringing him on my CES Vegas trip recently because I was wondering what he’d be doing while I was working but he was a good boy after all and we had fun going out at night ;)

  34. Concidentally, I was thinking of my confessions while I was at a yoga class earlier last week! I am posting on this topic later today.

In the meantime, I will admit that I, too, am eagerly anticipating my refund, even though I feel like a bad liberal for wanting the cold, hard cash.

  35. I am absolutely obsessed with reading a trilogy about vampires that I can’t put down - and I buy the books in the teens section.
And I love it so much that I can’t put the books down.

But, why isn’t my government sending me cash????

  36. Being a homeowner sucks sometimes doesn’t it? I’m beginning to think that our home is a money pit.

  37. I am secretly plotting to move in to/completely redecorate my boyfriend’s condo.

Oh and I found you through Laurel.

  38. I confess to spending $81 on my hair cut last night. And I just got it cut 3 weeks ago!
As someone who wishes the federal government took less of my money to begin with, I’m having mixed feelings on this “stimulus package” and rebate check, too. It’s a feel-good solution meant to make everyone think that “the government feels my pain.” It’s not going to prevent a recession or fix the housing market.
I like your “confessional” idea here. Found your blog via Anne.

  39. (Ugh, covers eyes with palm of hand and says) “Forgive me blonde for I have sinned. Sometimes I let the crib sheet dry between morning wake up and nap time because I don’t feel like changing the sheet. So my toddler sleeps on sheets that are stained. With. Urine. Yuck.”

    (sprints away)
