love & hate midsummer edition

love: girls’ weekend was très fun, and went by all too fast

hate: dare I out myself as a boring old lady and admit we did not even come close to finishing the wine? I’m not sure why, but the weekend was far more tame than weekends past. but still v fun!

love: we cooked the best breakfast ever one morning. With three kinds of salsa.

hate: I haven’t posted any of my recipes! I suck! but you must make that breakfast.

love: my business card got drawn at my local Starbucks to become their #1 Very Special Person Who Shall Receive Free Drinks All Week Long

hate: Seriously! Free drinks! I guess the only thing to hate is the extra calories that I cannot turn away because they were FREE?

love: I’m going on quasi-vacation next week

hate: first I have to do a day of meetings in New Jersey and New York. SRSLY?

love: Olympic male swimmers, especially the relay teams. Hubba hubba.

hate: swimming is over, and track stars just don’t really do it for me

love: bagels with cream cheese and juicy tomato slices, doesn’t that sounds SO GOOD?

hate: that I didn’t grow my own tomatoes this year – remind me to plant some next year please?

love: I just checked my archives, and I totally missed the occasion of my blog’s three year birthday! Maybe I’ll work on a blogiversary post this week? How does one celebrate such a thing?

hate: I finally decided that every time I watched The Hills I was making PsychoSpeidi a little richer, so I have successfully deleted the show from my TiVo lineup. And it feels so good to rid my life of something I loved to hate!

Leave your mid-week, mid-summer loves and hates in the comments!

comments

  1. Love: Learning new things, meeting new people

Hate: Having to be at work at 6-freaking-thirty AM

    Love: Warm summer nights

Hate: Warm summer nights with no A/C

    Love: Upcoming fall fashion

    Hate: Funky-looking peep-toe gladiator booties…what the?

    xox

  2. Hey, just means more wine for you in the weeks to come, right? Bummer about the day of meetings, but hey, if you get a subsequent vacation out of it, bring on the meetings! I’m so proud of you for deleting The Hills, I just don’t have that kind of iron will. I know I’d catch an episode during one of their zillions of repeats and get totally sucked back in. That is so sad… I sound like an addict.

  3. Oohh free drinks at Starbucks rocks! And yes, The Hills is pretty awful, I only watched it once because the horrible dubbing job MTV did made it absolutely intolerable. But I remember I used to watch Laguna Beach regularly while I lived in the States even though that was also pretty awful.

  4. love: the excitement and dreams of something new
hate: not having the money to support the dreams of something new
love: having friends of every phase of my life
hate: said friends being 4 and nine hours away
love: food food food - peanut butter cheesecake cups
hate: fat fat fat - peanut butter cheesecake cups

  5. Love: You’ll be here next week!
Hate: I’m on the wait list for community credentials, ie: not getting in.
Love: I played hooky from work today so that I can spend the day with my husband :)

    Can’t wait to see you!!

  6. Love: Shawn Johnson won a gold medal! She is so teeny and adorable.
Hate: Nastia Liukin will forever come off as peeved because of that ridiculous tie-breaking policy. I just don’t think smiling is her default face, that’s all. I’m cool with it.

Love: I can finally get some sleep now that my favorite Olympic events are finished.
Hate: My favorite Olympic events are finished!

Love: I’m more than halfway through Couch to 5K!
Hate: The workouts are harder than ever, and I fear for my life every time I huff and puff around my neighborhood.

Happy blogiversary! Year three is leather, so you know… get the blog a nice bag!

  7. How exciting about the Week of Free Starbucks Drinks and also the quasi-vacation! Very cool. I’ve been going on a few dates, but nothing overly exciting as of yet.

  8. Love: All the gifts we’ve been receiving off our registry from loved ones.

Hate: Getting a gift in the mail from people we don’t know. And being forced to do detective work. Only to realize the right gift was sent with the wrong card. Poof goes the air out of that balloon.

  9. Wow, free Starbucks! I am IMPRESSED with your iron will. Mmm, fresh tomatoes on bagels sounds yummy.
My sisters and I are heading to DC for a birthday/togetherness weekend. We’ve only been there with our parents and done the monuments/museum stuff which is fun BUT we want to do some shopping, eating and drinking also. Any suggestions you have would be awesome.
    Thanks!!

  10. Love: That is already Wed.

    Hate: That its only Wed.

    Love: THE OLYMPICS.

Hate: That swimming is over. I love swimming.

Love: That I am going to London in November.

Hate: That it is sooo expensive.

    :)

  11. yeah that breakfast looks scrumptious! and i still can’t bring myself to delete the hills, it’s so sad.

    as for my love/hates.

    love: i’m moving on saturday!
hate: i don’t feel nearly ready enough.
    love: i’m still moving :)

  12. Jealous over your Starbucks win. My personal choice would be the strawberry creme frappachino. But to watch calories I would go with a skinny latte - 100-ish calories when you get the sugar-free syrup.

    Love: Happy hour tonight.
    Hate: Vacation ended yesterday.

  13. Congrats on winning Starbucks special guest of the week–fun! Oh, you deleted The Hills from your Tivo lineup? Don’t you miss it just a teeny bit??

  14. love: new Zumba class
hate: the day disappearing too quickly
love: the cool and chilly mid to upper 70s this week

  15. Yeah, how come track and field feels so dull after all the swimming events?

  16. Love: That my apartment is MOSTLY put together.
Hate: That I don’t have the patience to hang my art, so I am waiting for AS to visit to do it for me.
Love: I leave for Egypt on Sunday!
Hate: The dread I feel about the state of my Google Reader when I return… can I give up on blogging yet?

  17. I recently stopped TiVo’ing The Hills myself - I am now liberated….

  18. I also gave up The Hills this season too. I loved to hate it and I am hoping I don’t regret my decision to delete it. Last season just got on my last nerve and I couldn’t take the stupidity any longer. And trust me, I like a stupid show. Don’t think I’m deleting Keeping up with the Kardashians once that comes back on. Oh no. Never.
